So I'm trying to plan my year, thinking of taking the family to Arizona. It's not too far, warm, cheaper than by the ocean. Gonna have two kids that will be too old for any rides or amusement parks. Really just want somewhere warm and affordable with plenty of outdoor options. Can any of y'all familiar with the area help me out?

Kids too old for rides or amusement parks?

I'm almost 40 and I ain't too old for rides and amusement parks. How are these two kids too old?

If you really want to see some new things that are affordable here are some options.

Bisbee

You can make a day of it to walk around historic old Bisbee. You can take a tour of the mine as well.

Tombstone

Home of the historic O.K. Corral shootout. You can also make a day of walking around Tombstone and there are plenty of things to do. You could take a tour of the Birdcage Theatre amongst many other things (watch a gun fight, ride on a carriage with horses around town, etc.)

Kartchner Caverns State Park

I would stay in Benson which is literally within an hour of all three of these places as well as 30 minutes from Tucson which has basically everything.

Hotels in Benson are cheap but good quality. Comfort Inn for $100 a night or Best Western for $75 a night or even a Days Inn for $60 a night.

These are some options that are outdoor and affordable that I'm familiar with. I know [MENTION=441]framer[/MENTION] has been to Tombstone before and if I remember correctly he enjoyed it.

The weather is warm and beautiful. It would be a nice change for a few days.

The places are fine, but many of them are fairly cold this time of year, which isn't what JTT wants.

@JTT, you should give us a better sense of what you want to do. Not enough details (incl. budgetary stuff).

Everyone's sense of vacation differs obviously but those places look much more like day trips than vacation destinations.
 
If you're up for it, stay in Tucson (warmest) and drive down to Rocky Point... or better yet, just stay in Rocky Point.

Warm weather, hiking, biking, pool, good food, affordable, all stuff that I can do with a couple of 3 and under kids.
 
I was just trying to help. Those are all affordable and popular attractions. Tourist traps or not many people from other countries come down to see them. It's just a matter of preferences and I'm just giving ideas. More than anyone else has because you guys would rather talk **** then contribute. I knew PKM would have suggestions but not everyone has money laying around like he does.
