With the Fifth Pick... Dante Exum

Christ, Locke is mind numbingly embarrassing. So awkward.

As a general rule of thumb, interviewers should totally make it about them.

Just remember how Kobe looked early in his career. Give the kid a few years to put it together before expecting a super star.

I agree with this... however, I gotta say that Kobe was (not is) an incredible shooter. I truly hope Dante can improve in that skill.

First couple of seasons Kobe was only 42% on his FG's and it took him 6 years before he became a reliable 3-PT shooter.

18 4 and 4 on 44% FGs and 33% 3pt. Those guys you mentioned dominated HS. 30+ ppg and double figure rebound type guys.
These are his U-19 World Championship numbers.

Also, it's probably worth pointing out that he shot 53% from 2, and shot 64 free throws while only shooting 70 2-point field goals.

Right, HS numbers like he asked for. I am encouraged by the number of FTs against those HS kids though. Not real encouraged by the 60% ft shooting, but the ability to get there is what matters most. He and AB could be a lethal attacking backcourt.

1. You stated other top prospect stats from regular high school. Gordon and Smart both participated in the same tournament, and didn't put up anything close to 30 points per game. Makes more sense to use comparable games/competition. Just seems a bit disingenuous.

2. I agree that Exum is pretty raw. Shot needs work, body needs work. The first step, speed and balance is fantastic. I just finished watching the first half of the game against Spain; dude drew 9 fouls in the half.

This guy is really raw. All he ever does is dunk and shoot 3s. He doesn't look like he has many moves, that great of handle, or multiple gears. He basically just runs as fast as he can and jumps as high as he can.

Is it possible he was a bigger d bag in high school than in the pros? :0

Ive really looked hard for his HS stats for months now... they are tough to find, I have 2 boxscores from HS games posted in the game footage thread. One of those games i have the Video posted, he got 15 assists that game.

I know he was dropping triple doubles vs that type of competition.

fwiw i was able to look up alec burks sr year stats at grandview high school in missouri.

23 pts, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.6 steals
On 53% shooting and 43% from 3 point.

I figured it may be a little bit relevant since they are both long skinny guards that struggle from outside and excel at penetration.

Burks was not even recruited by any of the big schools.

I just wonder if he was putting up decent high school numbers in the u.s.a. (like burks did) if he would be as highly thought of

I'm a little nervous, but the Jazz got the player with the highest upside of anyone left in the draft and that's what I wanted.

Here we go.
