Woj: Jazz 'confident' Hayward will stay

Boston/Indiana had an agreement to send George to Boston if Hayward signed.

If true, Pacers wait to deal George until next week.

They probably had such an agreement. Then Indiana changed their mind.

Well tonight we know they are crap. Boston media was most confident in the Paul George trade. Been acting like it was a done deal for over a week.

But Woj did run that story too......

The best part of the immediate aftermath of Hayward re-signing with us is going to be watching and listening to all the cocky Boston media and Celtics fans have an epic meltdown. It's gonna feel so good. I've communicated with so many cocky Celtics fans who've acted like Hayward to Boston has been a done deal for months because they are supposedly so superior to us. Can't wait to ask them what they think when Hayward stays.

Am I known for that or something? If direct news about our star player leaving or staying from Woj isn't thread worthy than what is?

This gives me more hope than your friends song.
Agree, Bawse. I had not heard he was working out with Jazz trainers and "engaged" with the team. I thought he was sequestered with his family in San Diego.

Indiana may have gotten wind that Hayward was leaning towards Utah or Miami. Or they simply liked the package they got from OKC better. I'll bet what we heard was the Boston offer to Indiana. The Pacers could very well have countered and wanted Tatum. Ainge refused, Pacers decided it was better to have a sure thing than to wait on a Hayward decision.

Well he was wrong about the Paul George thing to Boston.

What did he say, exactly?

He didn't tweet that so where did he say it.

I just double checked and all he tweeted was that Boston was working hard to sequence signing hayward and trading for George. He never said, nor indicated, via tweet that this was a done deal.

I heard on the ESPN Free Agency show that Indiana did not want to trade PG13 to an eastern conference team. Smart move for them.

Really? I think that is a dumb move. Who cares what conference he is in. It's not like they are winning their conference and PG would stand in their way. It's silly they turned down better offers to get him out of the east. You should make your own team the best you can. I would not be happy of the Jazz passed up a better trade to make sure we traded someone to the east.

Why? They were scared of playing against him for a year?

Absolutely bananas move. Nearly any team in the league could've/would've offered better.

Wild how poorly Boston has handled this off-season. All time **** ups left and right.

Seriously. DL turned Trey Lyles, 3-late first round picks and 1 second-round pick into Ricky Rubio, Donovan Mitchell and Tony Bradley, all guys that seemingly fit in the rotation. Ainge with his abundance of assets has done nothing except trade OUT of the 1st overall pick to add another future pick.

Indiana sacrificed themselves for the Jazz. It was honorable.

I'm thinking Oladipo was a big reason why Indiana traded PG to Orlando. Think about it. He was a star at Indiana University and has averaged 16 PPG over the past two seasons (17.9 PPG two years ago). Sabonis was the 11th pick in the 2016 draft.

I don't think they got the most value or even took the best offer for PG but I think a 16-point scorer in the NBA who was a star player at the biggest college in the same state for 3 years and a lottery pick is something you could possibly sell to the fans. I'm surprised they didn't try to get an extra 1st-round pick out of them.

OKC essentially traded Serge Ibaka for Paul George in the long run.

This is kinda funny to me.

I don't think neither Haslem or Whiteside has ever spoken more than a few words to Hayward his entire NBA career. Now they're tasked with trying to persuade him to sign with the Heat.

I do think Oladipo was a bad fit next to Westbrook. Oladipo needs the ball in his hands to be effective, he's just not a spot up shooter, but Westbrook is ball dominant. It was destined to fail to begin with.

I wouldn't be surprised if IND let Oladipo lose at the point some and see if he can play the position. What is there for them to lose by doing that? He can break down the defense, give the ball to Turner and Sabonis who are both great 3 point shooters already at this stage in their career.

OK, it wasn't the haul that CHI got, but PG also ain't Butler...
