Woj: Joe Ingles is finalizing deal with the Utah Jazz

Remember when he tripped Kanter? Or when he stuck that jumper in his face, and jawed at him while getting back on D?

**** yeah this ****ing guy.

Great to have him back, fits the team and brings leadership, most of all love the attitude he brings

Glad to have him back. Not somebody who's going to win you a championship, but definitely the type of clubhouse personality who will keep guys loose & focused. Ingles is the type of player who's impact is much greater than what shows up on the stat sheet. Can't do much better as far as an 11th/12th man off the bench. The contact seems more than fair & to be honest, considering the expected upcoming cap increase, I would have preferred to see a team option (or 2) included. Before the salary increase, now is the time to take advantage of the situation by inking as many "value signings" as possible. He may not be flashy, but Ingles is the type of player who's presence alone will elevate a team without even stepping on the court (at least for this specific roster), not to take away from his ability on the court. Considering last season was his "rookie" year, I expect major improvements due solely to his work ethic/dedication. Although this may appear to be a minor re-signing on the surface, I expect him to play a pivotal role on, as well as off, the court. Veteran leadership is a vital aspect to establishing a team identity, especially when it comes to an inexperienced roster such as this one.

Dennis Lindsay said earlier on the big show, that there will be some exciting things over the next week or so. Said as of today that there's not been a free agent worth the max that's been worth it, for this young jazz team. And that as of today, there's not been a big salary player worth trading for. Emphasis today.. Also , he stops an upper management guy from New York that's here for the review. Interesting segment, said at the review there is a place for agents and team management to sit and talk business. Also, kind of sounded like jazz our waiting for the salary cap to get set before, really getting down to business. That to me sounds more like trade talk. Either way the Jazz will be a fun team to watch next year.

Cavs and Nets potentially working out a deal for Joe Johnson. It will definitely include Haywood's non-guaranteed deal and possibly Varejao. I don't see how Anderson's 2-year $18m deal fits with Brooklyn's rebuild. I wonder if Utah could be possible 3rd team? Maybe get AV, a pick or two, and cash? When AV is healthy he is a good back-up and energy guy. I would mind him as vet off bench and back-up big man who can play 4 or 5. LBJ might squash deal if it includes AV but maybe it would work.

This is the **** I am talking about. Great glue guy, and in lots of ways the heart of the team. Glad to have him back. Getting so excited about next season. We we we so excited. We so excited. Fun fun fun fun.

[edit: I threw up a little in my mouth typing that last part. Still, we so excited.]

I like him... He is a great guy to have around and I think he helped build that chemistry. I just hope we get second half Joe that shot 40% from three.

Not sure who this dude is or what his credentials are but here you go...

Joe Ingles’ Analytical Scouting Report

https://jacobeisenberg.com/2015/07/02/joe-ingles-analytics-scouting-report/

Nice article. I really like the quotes at the end, and really think we have a good player in Joe.

Here are the quotes:

NBA INSIDER TAKES:
David Blatt: “He was the 15th roster spot or something like that and he’s worked his way into the starting lineup and is a major contributor to a Utah team who has seen great improvement in their game and in their results. Joe was part of a European championship last year. He helped us a great deal. But not a lot of people really expected to see him in the NBA this season. Now he’s a starter and a major contributor so, as a guy who I really like and a guy I got the chance to work with, I’m extremely happy for him.”

Matthew Dellavedova: “I’ve played with him for a few years with the national team. He’s a really good teammate. He’s a character… a very funny guy. He really knows how to play the game. I think he just makes it easier on his teammates. He’s played as more of a 3 with the national team and we haven’t really gone small too often. But I definitely think he’d be capable of [going to the four]. With the way that the NBA’s going with spread offenses and pick-and-rolls, having a four man that can shoot and pass like he can do would be ideal. It’s pretty funny that they’re still making him carry the rookie bag because he’s a veteran. He’s played professionally since he was I think 17 or 18. He just really knows how to play the game. He’s played in big games for the national team and overseas in Europe. He just does all those little things to help the team win.”

Patty Mills: “He’s great. He’s a leader and he’s been playing for a long time now. His ability to play off the ball has been his strength. Then obviously his size and his length as well. When he does have the ball he’s able to make point guard plays and that’s the beauty of his game. His length and his size and his sort of point guard mindset is what makes him unique. He’s definitely played over his time on the national team the stretch-4 at times. All the way from point guard to the 4 and even the 5 at times. That’s the beauty of his skill-set all around.”

Just watching him interact with the young guys makes you appreciate him also. He keeps things fun and loose. I remember watching him in warm ups at the Jazz/Kings game that I went to, and he was throwing basketballs at Exum, Hood and Millsap when they'd turn their backs to him. They looked tight to start out with, and were all laughing and loose by the time warmups were over. Oh, and both Exum and Hood played fantastic in that game. That's the kind of influence that he brings. They're playing a game. Joe has fun. It's a good fit.
