WOJ: Korver to Jazz for Burks and 2 second rounders

Lifetime Jazz fan here, and I'm still trying to imagine this front office doing something substantial.
Lifetime Jazz fan, so you've seen what this league does to small markets. And you've seen how the Jazz have handled themselves, and how successful they've been for the position that they are in.

So again, get some perspective and chill the **** out.

Nice trade that obviously fits a glaring need. Maybe they would've been able to use AB's expiring later on on a bigger trade... or maybe not. I certainly wouldn't count on it. Losing the second rounders may sting, but getting Korver in exchange for AB is a clear win for the Jazz, so nothing to complain about here.

There aren't a lot of guys that provide a ton of offensive value by just coming in and sitting in the damn corner. You can't leave him at all... turn your head and he can rotate to the top of the key and get a shot off faster than you can blink.

People have been whining that we need to do something, we need to make a trade. We finally make a trade that addresses quite possibly our biggest need at the moment, shooting, and people are now whining because we did it. I don't get it. AB never fit Quin's system and was gone after this year anyway. We weren't going to do anything with those second round picks anyway, we probably would have just ended up selling them.

So suddenly Burks has amazing trade value? We tried to trade for him for years but it was only possible now because he is expiring (and we had to attach 2nds). He is just a mediocre player with some good moments who had a terrible injury record. He wasn't a fit here and now I wish him well.

This is a great X's and O's move. Korver fits SO much better than Burks.

However, I understand why some are complaining. This deal barely moves the needle in terms of our relevance. Our starters and spacing are still issues as long as we go with Rubio and Favors. But I have faith that more moves are on the horizon. This was a smart move.

Let's be honest, jazz fans are the worst lol

Another typical dumb move by the Jazz. Korver is past his prime and AB should have gotten us more. Mistake again. Congrats we are dumb all for gimmicky analytics.

Burks is an inconsistent back-up SG who needs the ball in his hands and who doesn't always play defense. Plus he's expiring. The Jazz did well to get anything for him. What did the Lakers get back for Jordan Clarkson? Clarkson + Larry Nance = a broken Isaiah Thomas.

Burks' minutes are going to go to Exum, O'Neale and Allen.

Korver coming off a 22 pt. game in 22 minutes. 7-12 and 6-9 from 3 pt. Just what we need!

I'm blown away by these valuations of second-rounders. Jazz don't use them and if they do they don't even make the roster!

Correction. LINDSAY doesn't use them. He doesn't value them and wastes them. Historically the Jazz lived off them. When you can't attract free agents the draft is the only way to bring in outside talent. When your team is tightwad cheap, second rounders provide cost effective roster spots.

When you tell the world your team is all about finding diamonds in the rough, it is nonsensical to give away your means of acquiring the diamonds.

As for valuation...the Jazz gave up two second rounders so they could have less cap flexibility (which is what I thought was Lindsey's #1 priority) and acquire a guy on his last leg. Maybe Lindsay was having a hard time getting other GM's to answer his calls after he finessed Gobert and Mitchell from Denver and flipping Hood for Crowder. So he had to take it in the shorts on this one so they other GM's would talk to him again.

Why are we giving up two seconds and Alec Burks for an old Kyle Korver? To save money. I know Korver is a fan favorite but Korver isn't the same player he use to be.

Have to start somewhere. Ultimately you need a minimum base requirement of shooting or the offense just doesn't work. Right now defenses are told to go under every screen except Ingles, you have to confuse the defense more on when and who they can cheat off of. Adding Korver will help, adding one more down the line will help even more.

After looking at this, the loser in this scenario could be Rubio. Before long and especially for a playoff series, I could see a starting lineup of:
Mitchell, Korver, Ingles, Crowder and Gobert. We simply need the spacing in today's game.

If Grayson and Exum progress at all while Mitchell is learning to run the point, Rubio could be the loser in terms of playing time and future contract.

Not to sound like pgab but I’m pretty sure I mentioned Korver a couple times the last few weeks. It just made too much sense. We needed shooting and he’s beloved here and he was rotting away on a terrible Cavs team.

While this eats away at some cap space next year, I’m gonna be a glass half full guy here. We have the easiest remaining schedule in the league and I think this will reinvigorate Rudy and Co. Donovan too, if he’s actually healthy. I also like a lot of lineups we could run out there.

Rubio-Mitchell-Korver-Ingles-Gobert
Mitchell-Korver-Ingles-Favors-Gobert
Mitchell-Korver-Ingles-Crowder-Gobert
Rubio-Korver-Ingles-Crowder-Gobert
Rubio-Mitchell-Korver-Ingles-Favors

Whatevs. Korver and Ingles on the court together could be ****ing deadly. Rubio seems like he could be starting to hit his stride. If he is and Donovan’s healthy, watch the **** out.

Let’s ****ing go!!!!!!!!!

Jeff Hornacek, Paul Millsap, Mehmet Okur, Bryon Russell, Carlos Boozer, Shandon Anderson, Howard Eisley, Gordan Giricek, Raja Bell, Donyell Marshall, Mark Eaton, David Benoit, Tyrone Corbin, Mo Williams... all 2nd-rounders or below who were at least decent for us at some point; and that's just the ones that have played for the Jazz. There are tons of examples of guys who never played for us. You're not going to get an all-star out of the 2nd round, but you can definitely get solid rotation players.

Yes this goes without being said... the Jazz have filled out the roster (successfully) without them as of late.
