WOJ: Korver to Jazz for Burks and 2 second rounders

Korver still moves extremely well at 37 YO. And he gets great height on his jump shots.

Anyone remember that lengthy article about Korver and his friends training with some Navy SEAL badass or something and doing some insane challenge every summer? In the article I think they swam from the coast of Cali to Catalina Island. Korver was the baddest dude in the group. He trains harder than Karl Malone.
He trains with the guy who does P3. They carry big rocks underwater. That's the story I remember.

The thought of Mitchell/Jingles/Korver on the court together makes me extremely excited. That could be deadly.

Oh, man, time to get over it, it's been almost 10 years lol

Please remind me of never being mean to you :D
I don't get over it just because he moved on. He never made amends. He never made up for it.

So here's his chance.

Win me back you low life POS honorless coward.

The trade also feels like a bit of a message... like hey guys if we can’t figure some things out we might switch out some parts. It’s a close group and I think they want to stay together... might motivate them to play with more thrust or whatever the hell they call it.

I had the same thought.

can't believe I found this:

I'm not a huge fan of this trade overall. Alec was a favorite of mine but I had already resigned myself to losing him in the summer. Now we not only lose 2 second round picks for a 38 year old, but we add 8M to our salary cap next year. What a waste. We better hope he returns to his mid-30s form at the very least.

The only 'redeeming' thing about this trade is that DL usually just sells those second rounders for cash so... not a huge loss in that regard.

The trade just seems logical to me, and I suppose there will always be doubters.

Conceptually this tends to the hole, or weakness in a part of our game that we are having, and even if it doesn’t work out too well, you can still see why the FO did the trade.

Even in clutch time, having Korver and ingles on each side will hopefully give Don the necessary space work with.

It is also known for Korver to help his teammates with their shooting, so maybe, just maybe, he can instil some knowhow into Ricky and Ex.

The only thing I wonder now is, who runs the second unit?

Also, good luck AB! Thanks for everything.

There is something to be said for impact that a player has. Its the sum of all their parts. You cant just say well he shoot 50% from 3. So he is good and makes a positive contribution to the team. There is a reason why Korver has been passed around from team to team. Explain to me why his 50% on 3's isnt making his teams great. Or why he sat on the bench of a awful roster that was the Cavs. Or why some other team hasnt already tried to get him. Dont give me this he was a sought after trade piece. Alec Burks and 2 2nd rounders was apparently the highest bid.

Dude is slow, isnt clutch, plays bad defense. Doesnt play with good flow of the offense. Doesnt make great decisions. Isnt a playmaker. One dimensional. Makes too much.

I don't care much for Alec Burks, but Burks is a better player. Id rather have those 2nd round picks. Id rather have Burk's expiring for another possible deal. Id rather have that extra cap space next year.

Those are a ton of reason why this deal wasnt good. We were better off standing pat. We were already going to turn it around. And when we do it wont be because of Korver who will most likely find himself on the bench quite a bit when Quin realizes what a liability he really is.

You don’t understand why a player with an elite specialist skill would be enticing to an NBA team, especially a skill as important as the 3pt shot,to complement the stars that you may already have?

You'd think that with they way the league is now that a guy with the ability to shoot 50% from three would be one of the more valuable players in the league. Instead he is just a scrub fringe player barely getting off the bench on the worst team on the leage.

Why not just sign Jimmer Freddette?

Same logic.

Could have saved a couple picks and an expiring.

Our Gm realizes in December that, except for Ingles, there are no roster shooters .. but what did he think in the off season? Korver, who I like, is 37, goes to take the place of our 23-year-old rookie ... when we say programming ...

I'm bummed Burks is gone, but hopefully he does well in Cleveland. Still, while he had his moments here the past couple years he never seemed to quite fit.

Even though Korver is kind of ancient, as long as he can hit some 3s I'm happy. This team needs shooting in the worst way.
