WOJ: Korver to Jazz for Burks and 2 second rounders

On the surface I like the move. Something definitely had to be done to change things and I'm glad DL didn't just sit on his hands. I don't think that Korver will instantly change all of our problems but hopefully he provides a spark for this team. His shooting certainly won't hurt.

This
I don't like the trade but something needed to be done and adding shooting is the best place to start.

I heard a guy at work saying korver has an ankle injury right now. Hadn't seen or heard anything about that anywhere else though.
Anyone know anything about that?

Do you know who always put up the heave no matter what? AB.

I like the trade but really love AB... I hope when he comes we cheer so loud that he cries. Imma start a go fund me so @fishonjazz can sit courtside that night.
I was watching last night game from a perspective of what if the has starters had a similar leash to AB.
Ingles would have been yanked about a minute and a half into the game. He had a horrible turnover that led to a fast break (luckily the nets missed an easy one) and a bad shot early in the shot clock.
Mitchell has a bad turnover early on when he drove wildly into the teeth of the defense and was surrounded by 3 guys and was stripped of the ball. He wouldn't have lasted long.
Rubio. Lol. Bad turnovers and horrible shooting right from the start. I mean I think we had like 15 turnovers in the first half or something. Those three guys would have played like 5 minutes each if they had a leash like Alec.

Burks basically had to play mistake free to stay on the court. Hard to get any consistency if you aren't allowed to play through mistakes. Such is the life of a bench player on this iteration of the jazz (unless you are Crowder)

I really liked Burks and felt he was badly mistreated by Corbin and Quin. Quins short leash was inexplicable and undeserved when comparing the leash given to Mitchell/Oneal/Rubio/etc, Burks deserved better. Cleveland is a place where he can shine if it's there, if he doesn't I'll just have to admit I was wrong. Gone is our best player for creating around the basket. This move is awesome for Utah. Utah needed a shooter who can fire quickly with accuracy. They did not have that guy until this afternoon. Korver can literally change games for Utah who is one of the top two teams for creating open looks. At some point, I believe guys will start making those open looks. Korver will have quarters with 5 threes made. He is underrated defensively, but he is a geezer. Everyone wins with this trade.
Good post

The trade also feels like a bit of a message... like hey guys if we can’t figure some things out we might switch out some parts. It’s a close group and I think they want to stay together... might motivate them to play with more thrust or whatever the hell they call it.
More juice I think.
Thrust is an interesting choice though

Korver still moves extremely well at 37 YO. And he gets great height on his jump shots.

Anyone remember that lengthy article about Korver and his friends training with some Navy SEAL badass or something and doing some insane challenge every summer? In the article I think they swam from the coast of Cali to Catalina Island. Korver was the baddest dude in the group. He trains harder than Karl Malone.
Chuck Norris wears Kyle korver underwear

But, don't you know Ingles and Mitchell are worshipped here. I get the Mitchell love because he has star potential.

I’ve not heard that... he’s been sitting occasionally but I’m sure that is due to tankanitis more than anything wrong with him.

We already have a good squad. A little tweak might be all we need. It's just a mental boost if anything.

Korver fits our system better, and can spread the floor. At first glace I thought we overpaid, but that was the price to win his services. He was in demand.

Welcome home KYLE!

Slight note here... Korver isn't worth a first... Jae Crowder isn't worth a first... I do think if things went south though that we could give them to a contender or playoff team and aggregated together we could get a first. I highly doubt that factored into any of the thinking at all, but I think this helps our maneuverability.

Also, the $4M trade exception can help too.

Seems like a square trade to me, Jazz made out the better if anything. Cavs got nada and gave an alltime great shooter.

Burks, I felt some emotion in seeing your name listed, wish you the best!
