I hope so. That means that he would have this team firing on all cylinders and fighting for the 8th seed imo.

You forgot to mention he also nominates Burks for Most Improved, and the dude next to him nominated Burke.

I was just too lazy. Thnx for pointing this out for other posters tho

Its nice to think Quin can win CotY, but if Hornacek couldn't land it with last year's performance, I don't think Quin has a shot.

Unless voters are bored of Pop by the end of the season.

Jazz have got to get the 8th seed (at least) for Q to get the COTY award. If they do....he is a very serious candidate.

This.

Honestly, I think Burks winning MIP is more realistic than Snyder winning COY.

I think they're tired of him now. They probably gave it to him thinking he'd retire at the end of the season.

If Snyder wins COTY and Burks or Burke win MIP then our record is just over .500 imo. Maybe 47-35.

I'm really not comfortable with all this attention the JAZZ is getting preseason.. teams will be ready for them when the actual season starts.

We need to be a playoff team for Snyder to win COTY. In the history of the COTY award there have been only 2 coaches who've won it without getting his team to the playoffs - Doc Rivers in 2000 with the Orlando Magic(41-41) and Johnny Kerr with the Bulls in '67. They didn't give Hornacek COTY even though Phoenix' projections were about 20-62 and he got them to 48-34...

The year Sloan coached a Jazz team with Ben Handlogten and Carlos Arroyo to 42 wins didn't net him COTY I'm thinking Quin will need to win 72 games to win COTY.

Problem with Jerry was he was always that good, so nothing he did every surprised anyone. That 42 win team was really something special. Looking back I still don't know how Jerry pulled that off. That team has 1/10 the talent that this years team does.

There are a handful of COY winners in the list that gives me a little hope for Quin winning.

Loving the COY for Quin hype already, my $100 bet for 10K has some legs!

That argument would work for me if:

Popovich hadn't won it in 01/02, 11/12, 13/14

Riley in 92/93, 96/97

Phil Jackson in 95/96

I don't agree that the Pop fits. Pop not only had the best team he did it in a way that has never been done before. Pop didn't win it the last two times with superstars in their prime like the other guys did. He did it with possibly the best coaching and stargazing ever.

Riley, and Phil i'll give you that but thats 3 out of 30.
