No, the idea that "it's good for you because it's a plant" is the dumb idea. The idea that it should be legal because it's a plant is logically consistent, at least if you apply it to all plants like i do.

Legal != ok.

I agree with you here. But how legal? I dont like the idea of people growing weed and opium plants in my neighberhood.

Doesn't bother me, although I guess I wouldn't care too much if there was some sort of restriction to keep it fenced in or whatever. People can brew beer in their backyard if they choose.

What's crazy about that is those plains cowboys grew weed to make ropes to do business with. Hemp. Maybe those smart cops should use their little field test kits on rope. And get a huge bonus for their fine performance in filling up the jails.

The history of Hemp goes back a long ways. One of the most useful plants known to man. Besides the medicinal uses. Manila envelopes made from Philippine Hemp. fine brown paper bags.

The whole problem started with John Dewey's socialist model of education. Treats people like dumbed-down monkeys just train them for a specific little job in the factory. No wonder people need some little creature-comfort euphoria to compensate for the whole routine of workin' fer the Man.

And then along comes DuPont with a patent on nylon wanting to corner the rope market. Lessee now, how to eliminate Hemp. . . . . hmmmmmm. . . . . . make it illegal. Right. That's the ticket.
 
Industrial hemp being illegal is so dumb that it's hard to think any rational person could argue in favor of keeping it illegal. The stuff has so little THC it might as well be a different plant. It's sort of frightening that these people just see a cannabis leaf and get all freaked out.

Actually, hemp isn't technically illegal. You just need a permit to grow it. Who issues the permits? The DEA. Yeah, Congress in their infinite wisdom gave the power to the dumbest group of idiot thugs in government history to grant permits. Of course, I could be unfair since their record of granting permits is a whopping 0%. Here is what one of their idiot directors had to say about the matter:

Confirmation of this regulatory myopia comes in the form of a 2001 DEA press release, in which DEA Administrator Asa Hutchinson was quoted as saying, “many Americans do not know that hemp and marijuana are both parts of the same plant and that hemp cannot be produced without producing marijuana.”

I mean it's hard to believe someone that dumb is an administrator of anything (well, maybe it isn't that hard to believe). Good pot contains 10-15% THC. Weak pot contains 2-3%. Hemp can't contain a percentage of over 0.3%. Nearly 10 times less the strength of lousy weed. Maybe Huntchinson was taught the same math skillz Slonanie was taught at his fancy private high school. I mean, how do you get to run an agency who's job it is to stop drugs when you aren't even capable of recognize any subtle (and in this case not so subtle) nuances?

Anybody that posts about the legalization of weed and then backs it up with facts needs to admit on the front end that they are a stoner. Nate is definitely a stoner.
 
Yeah, I know, backing things up with facts is a rather unusual thing to do.

I'm not a stoner. And I support whole heartedly the legalization of any substance an adult chooses to put in their body. No need for a government parent.

Unfortunately there are plenty of substances that have an impact on other people, not just that one guy putting it in his body. Drunk driving kills far too many people every year. I can't wait for heroine driving. "Meth moms" created a spike in the number of children entering foster care. The societal impact and costs have to be considered, imho. That said, I would have no issues with legalizing marijuana.

I think parents who get addicted to that stuff, probably end up being ****** parents regardless.

You could boil plenty of crimes down like that and make them seem like they should be legal. Don't be stupid.

why if you had a hunk of metal with a hole down through it that shoots other little pieces of metal in possession without anyone knowing it should you rot it jail?

why if you had a certain liquid before 21 years after you were born in possession should you rot in jail?
