World Cup Thread

Did you read my previous post? If you did, does that not somehow change your mind at all?

Archie,

I like you, but you could not be more wrong or retarded about this.

The World Cup is the biggest sports event in the world.

The tickets situation has more to do with the larger issue of the host sites failure to accomodate everyone in an affordable way.

Archie - please listen carefully: Soccer doesn't need you. Please stop wasting your time and go take a dump on some other thread.

Fair enough.

"Fifa’s main difficulty appears to be finding buyers for the most expensive tickets. The ‘category one’ prices range from $160 (£110) to $900 (£623) and so are clearly unaffordable for a vast number of local people in South Africa. "

How much were tickets to a lower bowl game for a Jazz playoff game? How many Jazz games were not sold out during the playoffs? I'm just saying... $160 to $900 bucks isn't that much. Tickets are sold to locals and non-locals. I'm sure there are millions of soccer fans who could afford those tickets.

I can't post something that's news worthy of the World Cup? I'm actually planning on watching the World Cup, but I'm just making a point. The problem is, soccer does need people like me, or it will always be some grass fairy of a sport in the United States.

He went full ******.

Your confused. I didn't say US SOCCER doesn't need you. I said SOCCER doesn't need you. We are talking about the friggin' WORLD Cup and you are going to the soccer-as-a-legit-US-sport rhetoric. You are right that US Soccer needs to win folks over, but by all indications this is occurring, even without the support of the blind haters. Our soccer world profile is increasing. And the World Cup is as popular as ever.

Your confused.

I may be retarded, but at least I know how to spell.

Anyways, I'm just saying. Yeah, I have a different opinion than you guys. However, I didn't resort to name calling, telling you not to have children, or saying that a sport doesn't need you. In all truthfulness, I was actually pretty shocked to hear that none of the games had sold out, and there were more than 100 thousands tickets available. Especially with so many people saying how soccer is the ***** all the time.

I enjoy just reading your different views:
World Cup is a joke.
Not one game is sold out. Great fans!

/thread.
It will always be some grass fairy of a sport in the United States.

You didn't expect us to respond to these?

Quit coming in threads starting **** than acting like you're all innocent.

Do you need attention Archie? I have a number I can PM you.

1. World Cup is a joke. It hasn't sold out one single game.

2. Response to what most Americans think about soccer after being told that soccer doesn't need me. I was mainly being sarcastic. I'm pretty sure everyone and there two sisters knows that soccer players are called "grass fairys" Mainly because we have football which is considered to be the real mans sport.

3. I was helping you out on the word filter. You had a bunch of * so I gave you an alternative word that wouldn't be filtered.

However, I never once resorted to name calling. Yes, I had a strong opinion, and I new some would disagree and I even said "fair enough." But hey, hehepeepeecaca.

Attention? Nope. How bout a discussion about the World Cup without resorting to calling someone an idiot or telling them not to reproduce. This is a discussion forum, bro. I didn't know I was only suppose to post "positives" about the world cup. I had a valid point/fact to share.

I was talking more about hotel and air fare prices. Both of which, from what ive read, are outrageous.

Also, I really hope you understand the difference between selling out a Jazz game and selling out every world cup game.

Jazz game- 20,000 seats in the teams home town for 5 playoff games.

World Cup- 43,000-91,000 seats thousands of miles away from many teams for 48 matches.

I dont see you arguing that the NCAA tournament is meaningless. Most of those arenas look less than half full the first two rounds and arent full until the final four.

Well, why did the World Cup committee choose South Africa as a host country then? Isn't that laughable with all of these problems?

The real irony is that we beat Spain last year and should have beaten Brazil.

Exactly. I was in Barcelona, watching the US beat Spain. Great game. The Brazil game showed a complete lack of composure.

Here's hoping USMNT is better this year.

Who called you names, Arch? I didn't. I don't remember anyone calling names.

Don't march in here and to tell us why soccer sucks, then pretend like you were victimized or that you were merely trying to generate a genuine dialogue about World Cup attendance.

Oh, and regarding my spelling mistake: You win. Go get yourself a cookie.
