Worst NBA Draft of All time in 1991

I completely forgot the Jazz drafted Eric Murdock . Don't even really remember him playing on our team. Granted, i was still pretty young. Wanted to learn more after the whole Mike Rice incident.

Check out how bad this draft class was in 1991

After leaving the NBA, the 18th pick of this draft, Kevin Brooks, played for my local team, the Adelaide 36ers, for a few years in the late 90s/early 00s and won 3 championships. He still lives in Adelaide and I see him around the place from time to time.

1991 has a lot of solid players and HOF.

MUTUMBO

Also has Dale Davis, Terrell Brandon, Greg Anthony, Larry Johnson, Steve Smith, Kenny Anderson, Billy Owens, and probably a few others.

A better than average draft IMO.

Mutumbo ^^^^^^

I laugh everytime I see this:[video=youtube_share;C_0fyUYB3cA]https://youtu.be/C_0fyUYB3cA

As for the Jazz: 1991 Murdock and Ike Austin.

Murdock was supposed to finally be teh answer to the back-up pg problem. Stockton was so good, but he couldn't play 48 minutes and the jazz had struggled when he was out. Murdock wasn't the answer and was traded to Milwaukee for Jay Humphries et al.

Ike was Karl's favorite. He showed flashes which were enough to get an offer for way too much as a FA and off he went. I heard he still lives in SLC, and I think his son plays for Baylor.

I wanted the Jazz to draft PJ Brown. I thought he would be a better back-up to Karl and could play alongside Karl for stretches. I made my first call to the jazz radio station before the draft and told them as much. They had a good 10-minutes of making fun of that idea.

Murdock played 50 games for the Jazz and 508 career games.
Austin played 10 years in the NBA in 432 games.
PJ Brown played in 1089 career games and over 100 playoff games.

Would link the sl tribune article if not on my phone, but he has a 6'6"son who graduates this year. Austin from Baylor is his nephew apparently.

The 2011 draft sucked.

The #3 pick barely even gets off the bench!

The #12 pick has more career DNPs than games played!

The local radio hacks are idiots. They do ZERO prep, and every conversation ends in one of three ways:

1 - Why BYU/Utah is better than BYU/Utah
2 - How the Jazz are great
3 - Some stupid personal story/off tangent story about their loser lives/imaginations/fantasies.

I am shocked at how stupid these guys are, especially 1280. I don't know how anyone listens to them.

This is even truer than the Book of Mormon.

Are you guys G&G fans? I could listen to Gunther all day, every day, all night.

That is my favorite show. I LOVE to hear Gunther and Hans break down football. It is a thing of beauty.

I remember Karl supposedly lobbied for The Jazz to resign Austin in the late 90's after Ostertag tanked. Just as well - he was probably worse than Tag.

1991 wasn't that bad--Larry Johnson, Stacy Augmon, Dikembe Mutombo, Brian Williams, Steve Smith, Terrell Brandon, Dale Davis, Chris Gatling were all decent pros imo. Average or slightly below-average draft class.

If you could redo the 2000 nba draft, who would you take first? I think I'd take Hedo Turkoglu
