Brandon Knight looking pretty good so far. We could use a future point to grow with right now. Instead we have a glut of bigs.

Kanter's stock seems to be dropping. Im still hoping he turns out good. But maybe he wasnt worth the third pick.

There are a few players out there that look like they have brighter futures right now. Namely, guys like Klay Thompson, Tristan Thompson, Knight, Faried, Burks(still cant believe he went twelve.)

Maybe some others. What do you Jazzfanz think?

Note: I reserve the right to jump on and off players bandwagons. It is just like buying and selling stock.

I might...Jonas or Knight at #3 maybe...possibly Leonard at #12 over Burks, though I think a ton of his success this year was being surrounded by greatness and the culture there. In my opinion, he wouldn't have had that same success here.

I should say though that taking Kanter might have set things up for us to take Burks at twelve( butterfly effect). If that is the case, I would still take the draft

Kanter Vs Valanciunus

The Jury's still out and I think that debate will only get hotter in the coming season.

Other than that I'm pretty happy with Burks. I think once it is said and done he'll have a better career than Thompson, Leonard or Fredette.

Please elaborate how we could have missed out on Burks using your logic?

Seems interesting...

I like Burks a lot better than Leonard. Burks has potential to be special. Leonard not so much. Burks, on the other hand, could turn out to be a terrible team player, aka chucker

We'll see

Jonas, Vucevic, the Morris brothers, and Faried, all would've been better options as bigs than Kanter, or so it looks at this time.

If we can give Fesenko 4 years, I'm willing to give Kanter at least 3, then I'll provide an assessment of the 20 year old big man.

And Burks was a steal!

Good lord, those aren't even bigs.
Are you sure you know what a "big"is??

Whoops.... except for Jonas, who has done nothing as well.

We didn't take Fess as the number 3 pick -- what was he the 50th pick or something like that and we traded for him

Yes, they're all at least PFs and Vucevic and Jonas are 7-footers

If we had drafted knight, I dont think this board would be saying that he was looking pretty good so far. HIs summer league stats of 34%FG and 0% for 3 pointers would be alraming many on this board, as would the 4 turnovers per game. And these stats include his latest game which was clearly his best so far. The numbers are even worse than devin harris ;P

So far the only standout in the draft really has been the no 1 pick. Other than that, a few years is needed to tell i would have thought. On the evidence so far, I dont think Klay Thompson, Tristan Thompson, Knight, Faried would bring anything additional or beneficial to the jazz if we had picked them instead.

Time i think for people to sit back, relax, let kanter develop, and if they have doubts, just watch the lakers game again which should warm their hearts!

Agreed.

Who else in the draft was really that much better.
We probably got the two best players out of the draft.

Seems interesting...

If we take someone elsw it could change the draft. Say we take Klay Thompson at 3, does Golden State take Burks or Freddette? Or someone else?

Taking Klay that high could have changed the whole draft.

That's my point though, we're never going to take Klay Thompson at 3. Nobody was going to take Klay Thompson at 3.

Can you come up with a more realistic example?

I am fine with the selection of Kanter. Someone mentioned that the Jazz might have gotten the two best players in the draft. I think perhaps the second or third best. Even that is debatable. Jonas and Knight and Thompson might have something to say about who is the best after Irving. Irving is the clear best player.

I just think most fans have high expectations for Kanter because he was the 3rd pick but people have to realize that Kanter probably would have been closer to a mid or lower lottery pick. Besides the fact that Kanter is both inexperience and young. I think we will know better in 3 or 4 years.
