Would you do this trade...

I have heard this brought up on a youtube channel and I was wondering what Jazzfanz thought about it?

Rudy Gobert, and filler for Paul George and Ivan Zubac?

- PG was awful in the playoffs. Recurring theme
_ zubac is a serviceable big

Then just trade Conley to the Knicks for Bobby Portis and filler
Re-sign Clarkson

Mitchell, Clarkson
George, O'neale
Bogdanovic, Inlges
Portis, Draft pick
Zubac, Favors, Morgan

If you're thinking that there's anything in the Rudy relationship with the Jazz that has a good chance to go south, I'd likely take it (don't think Clips would offer it, though).

I've thought Zubacs is underrated for a while now. And with both DM and Mitchell, we have two big-shot makers that would take some of the pressure off PG.

But just no to a Portis-for-Conley swap. There must be a better way to accomplish the thing you're trying to accomplish with that move.

I would do that trade. A lot is made of Paul George’s playoff failings... he’s not a number 1... he’s a number 2... we have stronger leadership that could help him exist in a proper role. Paul was like a top 5 player a couple years ago. Zubac is solid and improving on a cheap deal. Paul is almost exactly what we need.

Looking at this trade framework, it looks like the "filler" we'd need to make the trade even possible financially is Ingles. (Technically, we could throw the "kitchen sink" contracts we have at the Clippers, but why would the deepest team in the league want those?) Still, even if Ingles were included (which I think would make the trade more "even" for both sides), I don't think the Clips are interested. As hard as it might be for DL to move on from Conley (rightly or wrongly), I think the pressure not to give up on PG after one year would be much stronger.

He was a number 2. And he took a number 2 in the playoffs.

I really don't think the Clips would do that deal unless Kawhi and PG were on the outs. The clips leadership issues are honestly more about Kawhi than PG. PG says too much but Kawhi says nothing at all. I am not sure why Leonard gets the benefit of the doubt when he manages his loads all year and then sucks in the playoffs too. He won a title in Toronto but that team wasn't really under his leadership. Homeboy forced his way out of San Antonio as well. That team needs Kyle Lowry or a guy similar to that.

Thing about PG is that its not flukey, dude just doesnt handle pressure well. Think he has the worst FG% on potential game winners in his career or something like that.

Hate has probably gone a little too far on PG. He's had a bad run but he's a top 10-15 player and is the most coveted commodity. A high level two way wing... it is so much easier to build a team around that type of player.

I understand people don't like him though... he has talked too much and been a little too open and had some big time public failings. Its kinda snowballed on the guy and made him an easy target. As far as his game goes though... you'd be hard pressed to find a better fit for what it is we need.

Its the gatorade commercial curse. He shot that ad hitting a game winner when he'd never really done it... it is one of the many times he's opened himself up to public ridicule unnecessarily.

Its part of the reason hes a definite number 2. DM would be the guy in the clutch for sure.

Maybe it was Joe who destroyed him mentally. Maybe he's the only guy that can fix him.

Is he good? Yes. Is he top 15, no way. Far gone are the days when he's battling with LeBron toe to toe as the #1 on a team. I wonder if he's even top 20....

LBJ
AD
Giannis
Kawhi
KD
Curry
Jimmy
Embiid
Rudy
Donovan
Harden
Klay
Siakim
Doncic
Murray
Middleton
Beal
Tatum
Booker
Chris Paul
Simmons

That's 21 names. Forget salaries, would you take PG over any guy on that list above? I wouldn't. And there are other guys who are would be great arguments - Jaylen Brown, Adebayo, Westbrook, and others.

A few guys I'd probably take PG over. Donovan, Siakim, Murray, Simmons, CP3, I'd have to think really hard about. All the other guys are clear over PG imo.
