Would you do this?

Considering the play of our frontline and the future of this franchise would you sacrifice some young players to win?

This is the scenario, prefacing this by saying I am not sure what I would do.

Looking at the celtics I think their window has closed they are old and older and don't see them winning. If I was ainge I would start getting young players and draft picks. This is what I would propose to Utah because the have depth and young talent (this is not about numbers just if it was possible would you do it)

Boston trades

Rondo
Paul pierce

Utah trades

Favors
Burks
Harris
Gs pick

I think with pierce and rondo the jazz instantly become a competitor for a championship at least for the next 3 to 4 years and probably win it at least twice. They would give up their youth for a win now philosophy.

Bad parts is how many more years does pierce have. And what is favors going to turn into? Does he have the fire to be Dwight Howard? Burks has a ton of talent but do you give up on him to win a championship or atleast compete for one.

Any way it is a thought and I am not sure what I would do but it is fun to think about

Rondo, Watson
Hayward, bell
Pierce, Howard and or miles (might have to include him for salary reasons)
Millsap, Evans
Jefferson, kanter

Vslice any changes to make it works take out the pick switch favors for kanter
Perhaps a few tweaks could make it more attractive but the 2 sticking points to me would be the lockout-shortened season and Paul Pierce. This year you're already scrambling to put your offense in and devleop a cohesiveness, then limited practice time throughout the season so adding 2 new players, maybe you get lucky and things magically click but in reality if you make a major tradeyou won't reap the rewards in the 2011-12 season. Then you look at Pierce's age, 34 with 36,000 career minutes...each subesuqent year his game will be declining and you factor in you'll be paying him $15 million per through 2013-14...

I think it's putting all you eggs into the 2012-13 season and I don't think that's worth giving up 3 young assets. It's an interesting perspective, because in the past 10 seasons the majority of NBA Champions have won championships not through the draft - but by free agency and using picks/young players to acquire important championship pieces, so I think eventually Utah will have to make some decisions like that...I'd just prefer to wait we're more sure of what we have in Favors, Burks, Kanter.

Thanks vslice great analysis. It is hard for my because I have loved pierce since college he is the kind of player that wins championships. Millsap and Jefferson are both still pretty young. I just want to see Utah win at least 1

I wonder if I would rather have Ray Allen and Rondo. That would give us the shooting guard the Jazz have needed since Horny retired. What if you traded Hayward, Favors, Burks, and GS pick for Ray Allen and Rondo?

Rondo, Ray Allen, Howard, Millsap, AJ as a starting 5. (thats as good of a starting 5 as anyone in the league IMO) Bench would end up as Harris, Raja, Miles, Evans, Kanter, Watson, and Tinsley. That is a really good set of subs.

I honestly can say I would go for it. You can always go back to a rebuilding team in 2 or 3 years if you don't win it all.

Not a fan of trading basically all our youth.

I totally understand your point but why not? We haven't won a championship ever. If we can give up our youth to win one wouldn't you do it? I know that team wouldn't be an automatic championship but I am not sure the Jazz have ever put such a complete team together. We would also have a few decent pieces if we didn't.

I think Rondo is overrated and Ray Allen is old as ****. That's why
