Would you trade Elder Hayward for....

Losing Burks is not bad, but losing Burks and one of the other three means it is harder to have a great team. The reason our core would be so great is because you add a superstar to 4 or 5 good ball players, and that is a way better supporting cast than any other superstar has right now. We just need to be able to evaluate which players are going to be the best to keep, and which will net us the most in return. I am impartial to Alec Burks, but I am partial to a team that has a chance at winning a championship.

No way in hell would I trade him for a draft pick at that spot if he continues his forward progression. The guy just keeps getting better and better. He made some amazing plays last night and is constantly improving on his game. He's posting up more often. But his efficient scoring is a surprise to me and he's at 18th in the league right now.

-He's rebounding the ball so much better than he ever has.
-He showed amazing court vision last night.
-He's stealing the ball better than he ever has.

He's getting max money next year if he continues to do what he's been doing...guaranteed! Mind you, he won't get what George got, but it will be max money. At least $12-14 mil. per year. He'll be considered a top 30 player if he stays the course. This will not be a Harden style max, but some of us are still underestimating him. I did for a while, but I have faced reality.

I'm interested in how you're coming upon this stat. Usually this early in the season there are several low minute oddities to go along with fluke performances from many. Then you always have the low scoring bigs (perennial Chandler) and 3 point specialists (Rush, Korver) who fit nicely into efficiency where it's not fair to put them on a list above LeBron, Durrant, etc.

Hayward is currently 128th in TS% but there are at least 60 players who should be thrown out. I.E. Jeremy Evans has been a top scorer in the past, & Garrett is 20th after one game.

Draft, no, absolutely not. Trade in a known quantity on another crap shoot? Terrible play there. Now, trade him and maybe other assets for an established player that is already performing at a higher level? Well that you would have to consider.

You have to take into consideration whether Hayward gets a max offer and if the Jazz want to match it. Because if he does, and they don't, then they'd be absolute fools to not pursue such a trade.

By the deadline we should have a good idea of who will be at that spot. But as you said I don think a team trades their pick for Hayward

If they traded it unprotected we'd be stupid to pass. More combinations toget our guy top 3.

Could be a Cavs situation that got them Kyrie.

Kyrie is good for sure, but what has he done for the Cavs? He has made them better, but they still suck, and this is after how many top 3-4 picks Cleveland has had in the last few years? (Bennett is looking like a bust already. Granted he's still young and all, but I think you gotta expect more out of the #1 pick than what he's giving.) At some point, you gotta stop playing each season to get positioned for the draft and work on developing a winning core with good chemistry.

If Hayward continues playing the rest of the season like he's started, are you that confident that what you'll get at #7 will be better than that? I'm all for the tank this year (though I'd like to win a few games in the process and not go down as one of the worst teams in history), but I want to start building a winning team soon, and not be like Cleveland where we're piling up lots of high draft picks and young talent but still sucking because, eventually, talent AND experience win in this league, not just talent alone.

He is 18th on the ppg list. Maybe that is what he meant?

This is late Franklin, but I was referring to his total points per game. It wasn't clear from what I wrote.

Don't worry. We will warm up the crystal ball so we can see what other teams will offer him next summer so we can be sure to trade for some value before the trade deadline.

You know its funny how many fans over value Hayward. I asked four NBA fans (Lakers, Blazers, OKC, and Sacramento) about Hayward and his value. Two didn't even know who he was. The other two both said 5-6 million per year. When I toldthem he rejected a 4 year 40 million dollar deal they all laughed and said only Utah would offer that much for Hayward. Now while NBA GM's are much smarter than the typical NBA fan, I don't think Hayward's play so far calls for a 13 million per year commitment.

Uh oh. 4 random fans don't know who Hayward is. Better drop him now before every team in the league wises up and also doesn't know who he is. Or something.
