Would you?

Would you trade Exum and Hayward (S&T at ~$56m/4) for Wiggins?

Ive spent too long hyping Exum in my head. That said, if we got Wiggins, it would be pretty easy for me to do the same thing.

Indifferent.

Amen. Everybody saying they wouldn't do it - give it two or three days, a few Wiggins highlight videos, etc, they would be rubbing their eyes wondering if they are really awake after taking Cleveland to the woodshed like that.

(edit) I should make it clear, this is not a criticism at all - rather it's just fans doing what fans do.

Well, Cleveland just gave Kyrie a big contract so they might consider it dumb to grab another PG. And as a SG, Exum is good but not as impressive as him at PG. They need a big. We'd all love it if DL could work a Hayward/Kanter deal for Wiggins.

I'm probably stoned on Exum right now. I see a guaranteed mismatch at the PG. I've been dreaming of Exum and Burks slashing the hell out of defenses.

Exum has impressed me in interviews.

Oof. Definitely torn. But I like what ^gregbroncs^ said, too.

Me too. If we see the kid is legit, I would love Dennis to parlay Burke, Kanter and picks too if necessary into something big. The Bucks 2016 unprotected 1st rounder or something like that. Don't get me wrong. I still have hope for Burke and Kanter but their defensive inabilities, if not improved this year, make them expendable to me.

Looking from the other side, like if we had Wiggins, would I trade him for Exum and Hayward at $14M?

Nope, I'd still go for Wiggins.

We now have the leverage on Cleveland, fellas. Think from that standpoint.

I agree with all of this.

Which team has a better chance at winning a title?

Burke
Burks
Wiggins
Kanter
Favors

or

Burke
Exum
Hayward
Kanter
Favors

Your question pretty much answers itself...
Or

Exum
Burks
Hayward
Kanter
Favors

I like this one the most. Starting lineups would have their hands full trying to prevent Exum and Burks from getting to the rim. It would open things up for Hayward and Kanter.

Before the draft I had Exum #2 behind Wiggins. Talking with others before the draft I said you should give up just about anything to get Wiggins unless Exum falls to 5.

I don't make the trade.

Instead I try and include another piece and two future first rounders to try and get Wiggins from Cleveland.

It's a pipe-dream, I know.

No i would rather use other jazz assets with Hayward to make a deal for Wiggins. I don't think the gap is that big between the two.

rep worthy

Wait! Let me consult my crystal ball....................Ah, just as i thought, cloudy, can't see a thing. Personally i rate Wiggins and Exum as equal and the two most exciting players drafted. Both have huge upsides, but which one will reach that upside? Damn crystal ball. Need to trade it in for a crystal skull or sumpin'.

I admit that part of my reasoning here is that the Jazz roster at the guard slots is logjammed right now, the Jazz could better use a legit wing with elite physical attributes and elite defense more than another combo guard. This would also open a slot and minutes for someone like, say, Bazemore or some 3/D prospect.

But I don't know. I think Exum has more of an alpha/scorer's mentality. I don't know, I'm probably overly dismayed about the glut of guards and absolutely 0 perimeter defenders on the team.

Glut assumes that Burke is a good player. I am not convinced. I would offer the cavs Hayward, Kanter hood and the warriors 2017 1st. We probably need to take a contract or two off their hands.

What kind of package could we get Wiggins for without including Exum? Hayward 2 1sts? Hayward Kanter 1 1st? Hayward Burks? Just throwing out random ideas. We are in rebuilding and I think the Cavs really want to get out of that stage and I think Wiggins just extends it and won't be ready IMO until the end of Irving's contract by then they'll be tied up in trying to pay both.

Barring injury, Wiggins will be a fixture as all star, especially in the East. Hayward and Exum both have the potential to be All Stars, but Hayward would be probably a 1 or 2 time all star and Exum could be an all or none type.

People were ready to trade 5+23+favors for JP, not even Wiggins. What now?

I would.

But we were all thinking Exum would be gone. So it was the Gordon, Favors and the 23.
In hindsight, it's more like the #3 and #14 and Favors, since Exum was rated in Tier 1 and Hood supposedly had late lottery value.

If Wiggins is the next Lebron or Kobe and Exum is the next Wall, then YES you make the trade. I'm just not THAT high on Wiggins. All-star yes. Superstar...not sure. Exum will be an all-star too (or at least that level). Tough for Dante to jump ahead of CP and Lillard in the WC.
