Yahoo Jefferson Article

Kahn is an enigma to me. Why would he want to help a division rival? And worse yet, hope the guy becomes an all-star? I guess I would understand Kahn a little better if he's a total moran. Takes one to know one, right? I just hope he's not an evil genius or something.

He picked a player with a top-10 pick who isn't in the NBA right now. He's an idiot.

And actions that demonstrate one wants to win a championship are louder than words about it.
IIRR he's been working out in Boston throughout the off-season, getting himself physically ready, even before the trade. This isn't the quote I was looking for [waves hand] but it's close enough:

Bleacher Report Article said:
Timberwolves Al Jefferson plans a busy summer with workouts highlighted by Hakeem Olujawon. "Normally, I take a month off after the season but I'm only taking two weeks, then it's back to work," Jefferson said before the Wolves' season finale against Detroit. "This summer is going to be real big for me."

"This is something I really want to do, to make myself a better player, to get in better shape and to get my body right, I've had this kind of workout schedule before. I know I can do it again. I want to be an all-star player in this league. Olajuwon been one of my favorite players since I came into the league," Jefferson said. "I'm hoping he can take my game, on offense and defense, to another level.''
Personally, I think it's refreshing just to hear his words, since he seems genuinely excited to be here, respects his team-mates, acknowledges his weakness on defence and expresses a desire to improve, and has a championship as his goal. Contrast that with a recently-departed player who was genuinely happy only when he collected his paycheck, threw his team-mates under the bus ("I had a great playoff series, but the team fell short."), never admitted his glaring defensive weakness and never even made as much as a half-hearted effort to play defence at all until his contract year, and who's only goal was to get a raise, regardless.

I'm liking his attitude and I'm expecting this will translate into success on the court.

I downloaded and watched the twolves vs rockets game . I have to say this is going to be an interesting year to have a real center on the team. He was slow going up and down the court but i found a lot of other things in his game that is interesting. The whole game he had three people on him and i thought that if he wanted to he could have put up a lot of points in the game. I didn't think his d was bad and he does take up space that boozer did not do. He can be a little bad at times but if he had the right training and learned more into his game he could be a real force. I wanted to see him push people around more and knock them out of the spot. Something i did not see too much in the game. But with him and sap on the floor together is going add something we have not seen in this system maybe ever. One thing for sure is we now have size up front. I wanted to download some laker games to see how he did as well. We might have to force teams more into a half court with us rather then a run and gun.

It's not that I believe Al Jefferson is excited about this opportunity. It's that I believe he wants to be one of the best players in the league. He wants to be in the MVP discussion like he knows he has that ability. God, homer goggles fit so good in the summer. I don't even remember who we lost to in the playoffs.

“One reason I came to Utah is so me and Deron could grow old together and win a championship,” Jefferson said. “No disrespect [to Stockton and Malone] … I hope we are better and we win a championship. I hope so. I would love that.”

Whether or not he actually had a say in coming to Utah, this quote should be music to Jazz fan's ears. This guy wants to stay here and be an anchor for this franchise along with Deron.

I think Deron ends up staying in Utah and I think we will be able to look back on the Jefferson deal as the biggest reason as to why.

Maybe it's just the summer lull talking, but I haven't been this excited about the start of a season in ages. November can't come soon enough.

When Boozer came to Utah, he didn't want to compare himself to Malone. Even though it's a lofty goal, I think it's a good thing that Jefferson has set his sights beyond what Karl could do.

Haha. Yeah.. I'm really trying not to get too excited about the team this season mostly because they always start out sub-.500 for the first few months and I get disappointed.

On paper, Jefferson is actually better than Boozer with regards to size and ability. Let's face it, Boozer was maybe 6'7" (he's shorter than LeBron and LeBron is listed and looks like 6'8") and was really one of the worst post defenders in the NBA. If he made any sort of defensive play it was shocking. His offense was nice though, when he wasn't injured with a sore vag.

Jefferson is 6'10, has a legit low post game and statistically is a better defender than Boozer by a pretty significant Margin. That poses better matchups (no more Millsap + Boozer combo getting owned by bigger guys), potentially better offensive opportunities (instead of Boozer shooting 18-footers and nobody being around to rebound) and it seems like the team already likes him better than they ever liked Boozer. Plus, Jefferson is only 25.

Also, we lost to the Fakers.. just for reference.

According to DE, they only have a quarter inch height difference, but about a 2 inch standing reach difference. Take into account Jefferson came out of HS, so he could of grown.

I'm not sure he intended to say he thought he could be better than Malone. I think he was just saying he hoped he and Deron could win a championship and be better than Stockton and Malone in that regard.

I think Deron might say he's better than Stockton. I'm withholdong judgment until I see Deron play for 15 years.

That's the way I read it. GE is on point.
