Yet another Q rumor

I listened to Tony Jones on Checketts show...he said he's spoken to many people in the organization and they're very happy with Quin, they want him back next season and are definitely not firing him. He said that if Quin leaves then it's because he wants to leave and he asks out of his contract. He also said he thinks Quin will give Rudy Gay minutes in the playoffs, and that the Royce/House situation will be fascinating to watch because House has been so good and if the Jazz get Dallas in the 1st round, they're probably going to want to have House on Luka as much as possible.
Tony also told me the Jazz were a contender so he’s a damned liar.

If we bring back Rudy and Donovan, and we didn’t make WCF, I just don’t see how we could also bring back Quin. I can’t speak for Tony’s sources but I think it’s in the FO’s best interest to put up the front that there’s no panic and they like him. I have a hard time believing that Ainge can see what we see and not see what we see, if you know what I mean. And Wade’s comments he’s made on TV. It’s just easy to say they like him and then later shift the narrative to how they did like him but _____ and they parted ways. Nothing to gain now by putting it out that he’s in the hot seat. This wasn’t Danny’s hire. He’s not going to come in and watch this collapse (unless we somehow pull it together in the post-season) and say “yeah, let’s run back the main pieces.”

I think Quin is better than a lot of these guys are but since it wasn't meant to be and the change is necessary after all these years. There are some guys I would be fine with.

Vogel and Atkinson would be good if we kept the squad to contend.

But since a rebuild is probably the better option I would probably go with one of

Darvin Ham
Jamahl Mosley
Adrian Griffin

There has been some talk about Lloyd Pierce being a terrible leader but I don't really believe those. He should probably get another chance and he did some nice things with Hawks anyways.

Despite all the noise surrounding Rudy, Donovan and Quin this year, I think it's more likely than not that all three are still with the Jazz next season.

This. My bet is we more or less run it back. I just don't see them making any big moves. Hopefully they at least try to go after better wings and perimeter D.

I agree, but this roster is now that restaurant you used to love but got food poisoning there one time and now get viscerally sick just thinking about it.

I have no more interest in this roster. If you’re still having fun with it — awesome. I’m happy for you. For me, it’s too big of an investment of time and way too expensive and difficult to legally watch for me to get invested next year. Plenty of other interesting hobbies.

This is how I felt about half way through last years season.

This season must have been hell for you. I loved last season up until the heartbreaking playoff loss to the Clippers. I was done with this roster at that point and was disappointed but not surprised the FO somehow thought all we needed to do was throw an aging Rudy Gay at the problems last offseason.

For me, I’d say this year was never too fun for me, but truly has felt like a “lame duck” season since at least the All-Star break. I can’t wait for it to be over!

I feel terrible, but I genuinely want the Jazz to lose horribly in the first round to hopefully force some hands. Because with this franchise, anything positive in the Playoffs = minimal changes this offseason.

Honestly, even if we make the WCF, I don’t want to see most of this roster back. The bare minimum of acceptable this offseason would be gutting basically everyone but Mitchell, Gobert, and Snyder.

I can’t see the franchise doing anything that I would define as drastic. The “big changes” Tony Jones has reported on are going to be things like trading Royce and Bojan and otherwise running the **** back. Just watch.

If he has an extension offer right now then we are doomed.
This. Nothing will change, but he will expect different results. But really I am sure Quin views this season as a single outlier on his master control sheet as he ticks off the years until his system inevitably generates 75 wins and a championship. Just a matter of time to let he stats even out and swing the other way. None of this matters because he has the long long long long long view.

I'm sure he does... the rumors are likely one of these things:

1- A negotiation tactic to get a better offer.
2- Completely true and he has a wink wink deal with San Antonio most likely.
3- Some indication that Quin thinks this team has kinda run its course and has eyes for another team.
4- He thinks Ainge might blow it up or trade one of his key parts and is letting them know they may not want to trade "one of his guys" or they will also need to find a new coach.

I don't think Ainge would fire him... I don't think Ryan wants to pay two coaches for 1 or 2 years. Once you fire the coach as a GM or Team President then you become the biggest blame magnet after selecting your guy. So you let that guy have some leash for a few years then when it goes south you throw them under the bus.

Quin is very far from perfect but man, some of the criticisms thrown at him from this forum are absurd.
I think he's a good coach for the most part.... I do think his voice has either gone stale or he hasn't been assertive enough. Rotations and some of the other stuff is whatevs... I can see both sides on a lot of those situations.

I won't be sad if he leaves... but I might be sad when I see his replacement.

This. I really think the biggest slam for me is that he seem so averse to giving other options a chance. He is very much into doing what is comfortable to him, almost to the detriment of the team. I was happy to see House getting the nod to close games, but I doubt it will last if Quin feels Royce is 100%. Speaking of which, I think Royce has been nursing that injury more than we think and that has really slowed him down. Maybe after this week off he will be more like his usual self. But I sure hope we keep seeing House out there.

Doc Rivers is twice the coach that Snyder is IMO, with a championship ring to prove it! But backwards thinking Jazz fans really don't have a lot to worry about because the Sixers have been on fire since the Harden deal, are one of the front runners to win it all and if that happens, no way Philly lets him go!
Somewhat interesting side note, Doc rivers was fired 2 separate times after losing to the Jazz. I wonder how he would react to coaching them.
