I would've loved to have him if it were possible. It really wasn't. They could've amnestied Memo but that wouldn't have been terribly wise (there's no guarantee that the Jazz would've gotten Billups [the amnesty bids are sealed], Billups might have caused problems, Jazz would still have to pay Memo and no longer be able to try use him as an asset whatsoever [like they were able to do with that NJ trade right before the start of the season]).

Dont understand how people say this thread is useless yet they make 100 trade options that the Jazz COULD do...knowing that KOC doesn't even go to this website and those trades will never happen. Give me a break

I would do Harris for Calderon, he is having a pretty resurgent year posting a PER of 19 (rounded up). As stated, his defense is awful, but offensively he is pretty close to what we need.

It also means Billups would have cost 10 million dollars plus the amnesty win.

I can't fathom why the Raptors would trade Calderon for Harris. Not saying Calderon's a stud but man, Harris is pretty much as mediocre as you get all the way around. At least Calderon can shoot and pass. Get real people.

Some relevant Calderon stats:

-PER of 19 (17th for PGS)
-Opponent PER (starting PGs) is 15 (that is league average production, not bad for a PG with a reputation as a horrible defender, net 4 advantage).

-Raptors score 13.8 points per 100 possessions more with him on the court than off.
-Raptors allow 4.6 points per 100 possessions with him on the floor than off (again, not bad for a PG with a reputation as a horrible defender, a net 9.2 pphp advantage)

-8th in TS% for position (.580, Harris is 45th with .482)
-3rd in Assist% for position (42.8, Harris is 18th with 30.6 [another note, Watson leads the league here])
-50th in usage rate (doesn't need the ball in his hands)
-3rd in turnover percentage.

Oh good, another thread about a point guard.

Where the **** are the mods? Merge all these threads, you clowns.

Turkoglu????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????//

The part of Stein's tweet that mentioned that the Jazz have been shopping Harris since the D-League showcase makes me think that possibly the Jazz have found a potential 3rd string point guard at the showcase, which might mean that Harris wouldn't need to bring back a point guard in return. They could receive any asset (player, pick, exception).

that's an interesting thought. unloading Harris would be easier if there was a team that needed a PG without giving one up in return. Jazz run with Watson, Tinsley, and Burks, with a DLeaguer as third option.

We need to have more of threads like this. I vote merge all other "TRADE HARRIS, THAT BUM!" threads into this one.

And shooting efficiency and lack of TO's despite heavy playing time.

I know Calderon from his European competition days, he has NEVER been even an average defender. He is a great passer, a consistent, reliable threat from outside but his stats does not mean much after realising that he was one of the main reasons why Raptors have always been a terrible defensive team + a team that got dominated by opponent backourt play. You put Deron in place of Jose to play with Bargs + Bosh, both would have played, hustled significantly better, more on defensive end. He is soft, does not like contact, not a good slasher or finisher around the basket - in PG standarts- , anymore.

If the Jazz will trade Harris, reasons why trade to get a proven pass 1st, shooter PG should be

- for a deep playoff run, or
- to help developments of youngsters (on which Calderon will not have a magical impact. Nearly irrelevant, actually.)

And Jose the Matador would not help the cause with his lackluster defense and lack of toughness, as well as his lack of experience in playoff basketball where teams actually have time to focus specifically on a team and try to exploit certain weaknesses and inexperience of opponents.

We got rid of Boozer, the matador, and I just do not want a Spanish flooper, another matador playing for the Jazz. By the way, if we are trading for a passer+shooter, let's go for uncle Nash, while we are ignoring the defensive side of the much important PG position. Calderon is a no-match for 37 year-old Nash, and that's an understatement, disrespect for Nash.
