With the supermax, does it have to be an extension the off-season before free agency or can you offer that deal during a player's free agency?
He probably will be harder to get.
Hey just a note;
With capholds and all of that ****, we don't have a max slot without waiving and stretching Korver, even after waiving and renouncing everyone else that we can.
Exum is very much in the way of building a championship roster and I really hope Lindsey has learned something about falling in love with your own guys.
I should deactivate my account. This is all such a waste of ****ing time.
2021 is the next big off-season. Maybe I'll start a thread about it. But that's probably what I make moves with a focus on if the Jazz can't get a serious player this off-season.

If tobias returns to Philly I think they end up moving him at some point. If we miss out in free agency we should stack good valuable contracts with the space and hope Kemba, Tobias become available in trade... assuming both return to their current teams.
I'm talking guys like Danny Green, Pat Beverly, Rudy Gay, Trevor Ariza types on 1+1 deals... maybe make one long term commitment if the value is there. Those are the types of parts that may have value. I just don't see Favs as super valuable in a trade on a 1 year $18M deal.
Like Rudy Gay on a 2 year 14-15M deal (I really like him... think he provides a lot of what we want in Tobias)
Pat Bev on a 2 year 8-10M deal (maybe 1-2M guarantee on year 2... might have to be fully guaranteed to get him)
Seth Curry on a 2 year 5-6M deal - second year non-guaranteed (maybe not Seth... might be someone else... kinda redundant with what I think Allen can be)
Use room exception on a center.
Get Caruso somehow.
Come trade deadline you have very useable flexible contracts that provide some value in a trade. All guys that fit on almost any team. I know... super unsexy, but that team is pretty good imo.
Only if they're already extended. The Spurs got Aldridge in Kawhi's RFA year because they waited to ink the deal.Isn't that when Rudy's supermax and Donovan's max contracts will kick in? If so we won't have cap space to sign anyone else.
This is a joke, correct? So you've given up on Exum?
I wonder whether more players might try to follow Kawhi’s and Masai’s lead going forward. The less you make it an emotional negotiation, the more favorable the outcome is in your favor. Maybe Anthony Davis should have Uncle Dennis handle his New Orleans exit strategy. As Kawhi’s shown, what’s the worst that can happen? You get booed? Some guy calls you disloyal on TV? If the Raptors had lost in the second round to the Sixers, wouldn’t his value be just as high this summer? He’s also going to have a profound impact on the way teams will be built. If I’m a GM of a Toronto-level team—Utah, Portland, insert a secondary market that’s not a typical free-agency destination—I am making my version of the Godfather offer to David Griffin for Anthony Davis. This is the power of the one-year rental. It can work.
I'm willing to throw anything on the table for AD but Gobert or Mitchell.https://www.theringer.com/nba/2019/...gency-kawhi-leonard-kevin-durant-conversation
I'm not a huge fan of that reasoning but... oh well... what say you Jazz Nation?
Gobert + our pick + Royce... for AD? Yay or nay?
We don't have the assets to do it without throwing Gobert or Mitchell. Just assume that this trade is the one that does it. You can substitute Allen for Royce if it makes more sense to you but Gobert and the pick need to be there. In essence I'm doing the skeleton of the Kawhi trade - high end non-superstar player + late 1st + young player. Would you do it?I'm willing to throw anything on the table for AD but Gobert or Mitchell.

Precisely. But Donovan would be restricted and his cap number would be a fraction of his next proper deal. You could lose/move on from Rudy, but that's why it's a big off-season.But the 2021 offseason is when both Rudy and Donovan's contracts expire.
