Why do you keep lumping Conley in with Love? Love is not nearly as good and his contract is twice as long.

He is also not a playmaker at all... Locke brought up some great points on Conley... he’s never played with good wings or backcourt running mates. He’s old but I wonder what he could unlock with other floor spacers and playmakers around him.

I think his game will age well... he’s fast but he’s more crafty than some... his floater game could be good until he’s 50.

We’d have three all star level players and an elite role player in Joe Ingles... with some other nice pieces like Royce and Crowder (unless he was in the trade).

It would be nice to get an elite FA to say yes but I’d say Conley is the second best plan out there...

Because I think both of them represent desperation. To get Conley, we are going to have to give up more than just the incredible amount of cap space it takes to pay him the next two years. We are going to have to shell out a 1st rounder or 2 and probably players too.

Love will cost us less to get, and cost us less the next two years. His other two years suck, but if we give up so much for Conley, we will pay him too. I guarantee the next 4 years of Conley will cost around the same as the next 4 years of Love.

Both still represent the same thing - an older player in the twilight of his career making too much money to hopefully get us to the point where we won't get embarrassed in the 1st or 2nd round. It's ludicrous to think Conley or Love will get us past Golden State even without KD.

I said if we lose Favors. If we don't get a quality backup for Gobert, I have concerns.

When I mention a player, that doesn't mean that player is the priority. It also doesn't mean that I would give a bunch of assets for said player. All I'm saying is that I could see us having interest in Leonard depending on how everything shakes out.

Leonard already has a contract which is $11.2 million next year. If we waived Favors and Favors left, we would still need to find a good backup for Gobert. Portland will have a salary crunch so they might just give Leonard away to save money. If Korver retires, then we owe him $3.44 million.

If we got through free agency and had about $7 million of cap room and no great targets, I would trade Korver for Leonard. It saves Portland money and we would get one year of Leonard to see how he fits.

I wouldn't make Leonard a priority, but I could see a scenario where it's worth giving him a shot at being a replacement for Favors.

Conley was a top 30 player last year, unlike Love. He plays a position and in a way that is more valuable in the playoffs, unlike Love. So he won't get played off the floor. He was healthy last year, unlike Love. He had the second best year of his career last year, unlike Love. The rules and way the game are officiated are bending to compliment guys like Conley... Love is becoming a dinosaur. Conley can create offense, unlike Love. Conley is owed half what Love is, but unlike Love he is not overpaid... not at all. Top 25 in scoring, top 15 in assists, all on 57% TS and an insanely low 1.9 turnovers per game. The package of being a two way player, good shooter, and most important a big time playmaker are rare to find in one player... He is worth every penny.

Other than that they represent the same thing.

Tobias ain't getting us past GS unless there are injuries or other players develop, Conley is the same, Kemba is the same... Unless we get LeBron or KD we ain't getting past GS unless we are lucky or have other things workout... Conley makes us a conference finals contender and if you have some luck maybe more... its really all you can build for in the NBA.

Again... remember how GS was built. They swapped Ellis for Bogut (who was really injury prone), got Iggy (why bother if he doesn't move the needle right?), had to have Lee get hurt so they could discover Draymond...

So yeah in a vacuum Conley doesn't make us a western conference winner... but he is absolutely one of the steps that could make us that.

Getting better is what we are trying to do... if we lost to the Rockets in 7 with Conley that'd be huge improvement over the dog **** we put up.

I'm stating facts... there were not 30 players that played better than Mike Conley last year. 21 pts. 6.4 assists... 57% TS and 1.9 TO … We aren't talking about a dude that chucked on a bad team we are talking about a guy that did that with incredible efficiency in spite of having nothing around him. Played 70 games even though he was held out of the last 6 at the end of the season because they had nothing to play for. Just because he is old doesn't mean he isn't good. Ya boy Rozier could only dream of having a season like that.

There are a lot of centers on the market this offseason and only like 4 or 5 teams that need a center, therefore a good backup center can be had for cheap. In particular he said would you rather have Dewayne Dedmon, Ed Davis or Kenneth Faried for around $3 million and then use the rest of the $18 million you're giving Favors on someone else or use his contract as a trade piece, or would you rather have Favors at $18?

Another thing Locke and Tony discussed is the possibility that Durant and Kawhi go the Clippers and Kyrie goes to the Lakers and then the Lakers could also still possibly trade for Anthony Davis. If all that happens we're completely ****ed no mater what we do or who we add this offseason.

Sweet... and I said Conley was a top 30 player... didn't say he was a top 30 trade asset. Hardly any of those dudes were better than him last year.

I think our window is closer than people think... I prefer to have a guy in his prime for the next 4 years, but if we don't get Kemba or Tobias then Conley is fuggin good for 2 years... at that point our cap space is not worth what we wanted it to be... our pick or picks... those are much more likely to be Tony Bradley types rather than Rudy Gobert's. You don't get 10 years to build in the NBA anymore.

Whatever man keep pumping up using assets to get Winslow or Russell... even if Conley falls off the next couple years he's likely better than they are over the next 3-4 years.
