What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Can the jazz just wait to strike out in free agency and then call up Memphis for a trade?

Even if Conley is hurt most of the season, we're still improved because we're not trying to force a center to play PF and we will have hopefully picked up another PG who's not Exum. And maybe Jazz leaves if Exum is gone, so there's literally no way to lose the Conley trade.
But is the new PF just Jae Crowder getting 35+ minutes with Niang spelling him? Because that's still extremely meh.

Need a backup C too, and going from the best backup in the league to a minimum guy is tough. Rudy's health becomes unbelievably important for next year.

Nah, we'll have options to find a new power forward. Mirotic, Gay and Jabari are all possibilities.

They’d have to release him. So it would still cost us Favors as part of the trade basically.

I think. I most definitely not a cap guy.

On a draft day trade, those salaries must match for teams in Utah and Memphis' situation with the cap. After FA starts, we can eat the contract. Depends when it happens I guess.

I suppose we could match salary by trading Exum, Crowder, Korver, Bradley, and Neto, but that'd be a lot more stupid than just trading Favors and Exum.

If Favors isn't in the discussions that means any trade before free agency would end up like the Lakers/Pelicans trade. It would be agreed upon in principle but couldn't be officially completed until after free agency begins. And Utah would have to renounce Favs and Rubio for it to go through.
