Zach Lowe tells Utah (and a couple other teams) what to do in free agency

They never shoulda let him out without a deal... gonna get the Hayward poison options now. Great job Warriors!

Yep. Max deal, trade kicker and opt out after 3. Sounds exactly right. Wonder if they're having a harder time shedding salary than they thought. Maxing Green gets harder if you can't trade away Lee. At least in the pocketbook. Pretty sure they just match whatever contract he signs.

Trust me, I realize.

that is 16 minutes, at the absolute most. More likely 13-14 minutes. I'm assuming you want him getting his other minutes behind Favs, cut Booker, DNP Lyles through the entire season, and keep everything else intact?

I'd probably make an offer. Minuscule chance he accepts.

Ok great but you've never given any reasons why its a bad idea. judging from your responses you seem to be concerned with rookies and journeymen.we're talking apples and oranges. I'm looking at a 22 year old who scored 17 ppg in the NBA last year, he played well in matchups vs Lebron James.. To say he'd be a bad signing would be asinine because there's' nothing discernibly better they could do with the money right now, and the long term ramifications of the contract don't limit Utah moving forward. so back to my original, still unanswered question. Whats the downside?

I, for one, would like to thank you for being the next person to try to communicate these basics with Dalogic. Prepare to be underwhelmed with the responses you receive.

Amir Johnson's agreement with Boston will pay him $24 million over two years, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
... damn, people are spending crazy...

I think Boston just took themselves out of Harris sweepstakes...

Singler gets 5 years $25M... wasn't ready for that.

If Atlanta doesn't get Millsap back that is where Harris lands is my guess.

That's because it's a great idea, if he's fine with the bench role. My gut is telling me that he won't be. Not a chance in hell.

Not the case at all.

Downside of him accepting a bench-role? Literally nothing. I wasn't down with him starting, and moving Hayward to the 2 and Burks to the 1. If he accepted a bench-role on this team for 14mil/yr, I'd be cheering.

WTF is Boston doing? This whole offseason is a mystery... if there is not a subsequent move here then I think Ainge has effed this thing up hard.

Boston can very easily clear-up cap room for him, IMO. They still haven't re-upped Crowder, and they would gladly get rid of Zeller/Olynyk/Sullinger for pennies if it meant grabbing Harris.

I think Bradley for cap space and a pick is more likely... then send some of those other aforementioned cheaper names out for stuff.

If Boston is selling stuff I'd buy some of it maybe.

As one source sagely explains: Suns certainly have player to appeal to PORT in sign-and-trade if LaMarcus Aldridge chooses PHX: Eric Bledsoe

Bradley's on a paltry 8 mill/yr contract, with I think 2 years left? Gives us shooting and defense. He could be had for Booker and a pick. I just don't think they're that ready to get rid of Bradley. Well, who knows-- they did just draft like 4 PGs.

Don't want Bradley. Plus, Boston traded a future 1st for IT. I actually think that thCeltics are a perfect example of what NOT to do. Don't stockpile assets and then trade them away for pieces. Save your assssts and make one big move instead of a bunch of little deals

Clearly they read TF Zach Lowe Article and adjusted accordingly. All of the Crappy Free Agents are Belong to Us!!!!

Just got a call from Boston. Apparently they are offering ME a contract at 4/18 million. Waiting to hear from Phoenix before I commit. . .

Guard Sergio Llull has decided against joining the Rockets in the NBA and will stay with Real Madrid, league source tells Yahoo Sports.
...
Rockets getting the Tomic treatment by their own stash players.

It doesn't look like we're getting anybody significant. Green gave SA the hometown discount. I highly doubt DL would max Harris. Burks and Hood are going to get a lot of burn next year.
