The west is going to be awesome next year. The most brutal that we have ever seen it from top to bottom. The West is still probably mediocre as a whole.
We will see what Utah does, but they will probably be challenging for the 6-10 slots.
All depends on health again I guess, but I dont think it will be that tough. Obviously the NBA is at a pretty high point in terms of overall quality, but there aren't many teams who can just dominate night in and night out in the regular season in th West. The west is going to be awesome next year. The most brutal that we have ever seen it from top to bottom.
What was it?Also it's clear that Justin really, really, really likes working with Ainge. Just effusive praise of him - and a slight shot at Dennis.
Yeah it does seeml they had Hendricks at 9 on their board which basically means they would've taken any of the 8 guys that went ahead of him if they had been available including Bilal.Interesting to me to explicitly say they had Hendricks 9, Keyonte 10, and Brice at 18 (can't remember if he actually said that about Hendricks or if I read that on twitter). Basically saying if anyone else had slipped at 9 they would've taken someone else, lol. But whatever. Welcome to all 3!
A swing year is what I want. Give the rooks starting gigs. Hopefully we get a top 3 pick and say F you to OKCI've been wondering if they see it as next season being a swing year, where they don't splurge too much and are prepared that they might take a step back, but will lean in whatever direction the momentum of the team is (if they're winning, they'll push; if they're losing, they'll pull). This is in large part due to the fact that this is the last year to have a year with flexible demands and expectations since Lauri's contract doesn't expire until next year.
I think everyone wants to win, though. But I think they are simultaneously keeping expectations for this season modest and still trying to be patient and diligent with building.
I do hear this every year thoughThere is a very good chance that we miss the playoffs. I don't think you truly grasp how good the west is. All the teams that made the playoffs last year are still right there and I expect massive improvements from rockets, spurs, mavs and blazers. Not only could we miss the playoffs but we could have a solid season with great player development and still be in the bottom 3 of the west.
From what I understand we still dont get to say F you to OKC. They just get our pick the next year in a what is likely a better draft.A swing year is what I want. Give the rooks starting gigs. Hopefully we get a top 3 pick and say F you to OKC
So if our pick is top 8 they get our pick the following year? Is there protections on that year too or just no matter what? From what I understand we still dont get to say F you to OKC. They just get our pick the next year in a what is likely a better draft.
Praise for how well Ainge worked with the team and staff and how he respected everyone's opinion and made sure they had a voice and were heard. What was it?
Utah's 1st round pick to Oklahoma City protected for selections 1-10 in 2024, 1-10 in 2025 and 1-8 in 2026 (if Utah has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Oklahoma City by 2026, then Utah's obligation to Oklahoma City will be extinguished)So if our pick is top 8 they get our pick the following year? Huh?There is a very good chance that we miss the playoffs. I don't think you truly grasp how good the west is. DL is a shifty negotiator. If LA tanks in 27 and has top 4 we are just screwed. Wtf?Utah's 1st round pick to Oklahoma City protected for selections 1-10 in 2024, 1-10 in 2025 and 1-8 in 2026 (if Utah has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Oklahoma City by 2026, then Utah's obligation to Oklahoma City will be extinguished)

Maybe Tony is telling us the truthOne funny thing I liked... JZ pulled a Tony Jones on Tony Jones. Was asked what are you looking to add or something like that... and he was like "good basketball players".
He is… but that obvious vague answer is something he loves to do and JZ wouldn’t give him anymore detail… it was funny.Maybe Tony is telling us the truth
Good post. And you didn't even mention the Ja suspensionHuh?
Twolves aren’t going to improve. That Towns/Gobert experiment didn’t work. Conley is only older. And did we forget Gobert trying to punch out Slo Mo?
Clippers aren’t going to improve. At this pt, I’d want to play them in the playoffs. Chances are they’ll be missing at least one if not both their stars at the end of the year.
Dallas isn’t going to improve significantly. They have Kyrie, the destroyer of franchises. I don’t care who they draft or sign. There’s one ball on the court and as long as you have Kyrie and Luka fighting over it, their ceiling will be limited.
Golden State might take a step back, they’re only aging. Poole was a very good player.
Lakers aren’t going to improve. And King James is only getting older.
And I actually look for the suns to finally just implode. They hate their center and KD is a walking injury. They have zero depth.
Most of those teams were in the playoffs.
I think it’s Denver and a bunch of other pretty decent teams in the west. But nothing too scary. If I’m the Jazz, my main concerns are injuries. Keep this team healthy? They have the talent to compete with most in the west. I think we’re a lock for the playoffs (Q string injuries).
Hell, had they not shut things down, they’re easily a 7 or 8 seed this past year. And potentially even winning depending on the matchup. I think we would’ve beaten the Clippers and Twolves this year.
Do we have enough to beat Sacramento or Denver in a 7 game? Yeah, I don’t know about that.
Oh yep. Forgot about that. That’s another team that’s hardly the Kobe-Gasol-Odom-Bynum Lakers. Memphis, like Phx and Minny, is another team close to imploding. They don’t scare me like they did two years ago. That coach’s chair has gotta be red hot this year. Every one of their stars seems quick triggered (Bane and Jackson) or just an immature idiot (Ja) that you just can’t depend on.Good post. And you didn't even mention the Ja suspension
