Burke Slams Media

Yet by even seriously listening to offers, it appears the message is that Derrick is the most desired player on our team (by other gm's) with most value and yet dl still has not traded him for anything offered, proving that dl does not want to trade him.

Fixed

Perhaps. Or it just proves that DL is dealing from a position of strength this time, unlike when Kanter demanded a trade and had to be dumped. He may still want to pull the trigger, but wants to get even value in return.
Ya maybe. I still don't see what good or fun it is to believe that our gm wants a player we all love to be gone. Especially without actual proof and with a team that through coaches, players, and front office have been creating something special.

In other words, try the koolaid. It tastes good. (Though not as good as that baking cake is gonna taste)

Koolaid and cake. Sounds like a childhood Utah birthday party. Or not...I think my parents may have sprung for Shasta.

Why would it be bizarre? Other GM's have come out and said trading player X was never considered. Hell, DL said after he drafted Rodney Hood (a ROOKIE) that he wanted to have him on the team his entire career. WE hear all this stuff about the camaraderie of the players. Lindsey makes it sound as if they sit around the campfire singing Kumbaya together. Yet by even seriously listening to offers, it appears the message is that Derrick will be traded as soon as the right deal comes along.

Dude

The favors thing was a salesman's tactic. It's like the really expensive necklace in the window of a jewelry store that 95% of people can't afford. Why put an item that you are unlikely to sell in the window? Cuz it brings people in. Once they come in, maybe you can sell em somethin.

Ah, now it makes sense. Can't afford the Ferrari (Favors), so you settle on the Chrysler (Burke). Damn, why didn't I realize that's what Lindsey is doing? He's a bloody genius!

Bizarre was not the right word to use. I should have just left it at stupid. A good GM should only publicly say "never" in extremely rare circumstances. The bottom line is that I have been very impressed by DL, and I think the way he has dealt with this situation is more likely to benefit the team than the way you are suggesting he should behave.

What makes you think they have seriously listened to offers. What constitutes seriously listening? They should always listen to offers, doesn't mean they are considering them.
.
You do realize that most rumors are made up by other teams, agents or writers/fans? Especially when they are about the closed mouth Jazz organization? Favors is arguably our best player, the team is going to get calls about him, and people are going to make rumors up to gauge their interest. Means virtually nothing.
.
And you seem to be overreacting to baseless rumors.

Before you know it, Stifle will be telling you that trading Favors was out of the question and was never true.

He did that with the Kanter situation. One minute he was talking about how we shouldn't trade Kanter, and I'm telling him we should, then next thing I know he's telling me that we should trade him.

You gotta watch out for Stifle. He's trying to do weird stuff around here.

He even tries and tells me not to post. I thought that is mean.

Say what? Please show me ONE post from last season - after Kanter started to whine - when I told you we shouldn't trade Kanter. Have I ever said Kanter, Favors and Gobert would be a great rotation at the 4/5? Definitely. But that was early in the season, while I still believed Kanter could start and Gobert could come off the bench.

And why would I have changed my opinion? Because it was apparent Gobert was ready to start when he played increased minutes after Kanter got hurt. And it was apparent Kanter was never going to accept a backup role.

I NEVER, EVER said we shouldn't trade Kanter after his public demand and petulance. I even said it was a terrible idea to try to keep him for a S&T with the attitude he had. I defended the trade DL made and said getting back ANYTHING was acceptable.

And as for trading Favors, I'm apparently the ONLY one who thinks DL has been actively trying to do so for the past two years. So why would I ever claim the exact opposite. Seriously, are you on drugs? Stop being (and I plagiarize Trout here) such an asshat.

I saw what you wrote before and went and searched for a post showing you said it, but now you've changed your post.

I'm not trying to pick on you. Just messing with you. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

I did feel like you did a 180 on the Kanter subject. I was one of the first to beat the trade Kanter drum. Well before he threw a fit. Then at some point you started preaching to me in some posts about why we should trade him. Things I was saying months earlier. It was kinda annoying.

I'll post one post of yours, but I'm not going to get a bunch. I made a few trade Kanter threads and I would always get you and others arguing the other side.

Here it is

But as zbone said, I'm just not sure this is the right time to give up on Kanter.

And when did I make that post? Probably as we saw Kanter making some progress under Quin.

But fair enough. You were one of the first to recognize the Jazz should trade Kanter. And you were right. I thought they could co-exist until it became apparent around the first part of January that neither was going to accept coming off the bench.

I was the first on the old board to advocate trading AK - and I got negged out the ying yang for quite some time so I do understand how you could feel annoyed by almost everyone else not sharing your opinion, which was unpopular at the time.

I also liked kanter for a long time and didn't want to trade him.
Then when Gobert blew up and kanter asked to be traded I changed my mind and did want to trade him.

Having an open mind on things and being able to change your mind and admit you may have been wrong about something is a good thing imo

There is nothing wrong with slamming the media, if anything it should be done more.
