What's new

Jake Heaps rumor.

Wow so you were the 200 lbs girl in this story aren't you, it's okay it's not your fault and it's time to forgive yourself.

Funny.

Maybe there's something to these Heaps rumors. Sounds like some message boards are abuzz with talk that Heaps has knocked a girl up in Provo and there will be a quickie wedding to make everything look proper.

Anybody else been hearing this?

This might affect his decision whether or not to serve a mission.

If you're walking around college banging a bunch of chicks, it might be kind of hard to get approval to go on a mission. That kind of stuff takes a long time to come back from and be "worthy" to go.

He wasn't planning on going on a mission anyway.

Kuresa was going to go on a mission. By the time he'd come back, Heaps would be a junior/senior. Kuresa would be able to come in as a QB just as Heaps was leaving.

I thought most people knew that Heaps wasn't going on a mission (and it initially wasn't because of any commandment/honor code violations). I've always heard from coaches, faculty, and those involved in Football in this state that Heaps isn't a missionary type of guy. And if his focus is on the NFL, why would it be?

That was what I'd heard from the beginning as well.

That's what I was saying all along even before this thread.

I love Doman but Kuresa is not very impressive. But given time I'm sure Doman can help him out. McCoy Hill will have no probs beating out Kuresa.

I'm a big-time stats guy when it comes to high school. I think gaudy numbers translate at some level, so whenever somebody like Kuresa is breaking Utah all-time records, I think you always offer that guy a scholarship at the position he did so. Most people assume he is just going to play another position, I'm not so sure. Of course he was breaking Riley Nelson's high school records.....so......

BYU basketball has this problem sometimes. Jaycee Carol, Marcus Bailey, et al. scored at will in Wyoming high school basketball and would've been at BYU if offered, and BYU totally discounted it because of the competition they played against. Jimmer got the same treatment by most schools after scoring 30/game in rural New York. Some kid that BYU is quasi-recruiting just scored 73 in a high school in rural Nevada, and they are only debating offering him. If you can score 73 against any high school team, you can play D-1 basketball no problem.

Honest question, how many times did you see Kuresa play in person?

Ya I drove to Mountain Crest every week to watch his games.

In other words, you're calling a player unimpressive who you've never seen play in person?

Let me ask you two more questions.

#1 Have you ever seen him play?
#2 If you have, who did you see him play against?

I saw Kuresa play on the television set a few times this past year. I liked everything about him except his size. Most sites have him listed at 6'0" and IMO that's being generous. Funny thing is, he looked almost like a replica of Riley Nelson during his time at Logan.

Don't be so obtuse. It is possible to know a ton about a kid without seeing him in person. How the hell would recruiters do their job otherwise? So get off that dead end argument or be declared a moron.

Anyway, I have seen him in person. I stood side by side BYU coaches at their 7-on-7 tourney last summer and watched Kuresa versus Bingham and some other team I can't remember. His WRs were amazing and the plays they run are dumb. His game works on the high school level (scrambling around pulling plays out of his ***). But I worry about it translating in college. But Doman likes him and I like Doman. But have heard plenty of other coaches concerned with his mechanics and the Mt Crest system.

So there you have it. If that's not good enough for you than so what. Have fun finding the coach that travelled to Mt Crest every week cuz it looks like that's what you're lookin for.
