Point Guard Situation

I dunno bro. I'm getting worried about our offense. Delon certainly wouldn't fix it, but I think he could be better than Trey and Neto very soon. Maybe now.
In getting worried about the offense too.
But I don't think any changes will be made.

In theory, our offense should be better than It was when we were playing great last year (lose exum, add burks + second year under Quin + internal improvement/more experience from our young core).

Maybe we are making too much of a few pre season games

One way to view the offense is to look at last year's offense. Remove Exum and insert Burks.

Does that portend a worse offense or a better one?

*Fish, thinking along those same lines.

I feel disappointment coming this year for Utah.

It stems from the PG situation.Already the Jazz are experimenting lineups without a PG.
The loss of Exum really hurt because so much of the 2nd half play last season was because of the defensive play and pace created by Exum and Gobert. In the case of the Jazz ,defense was the catalyst for getting the offense going. You sensed Exum knew he could be elite at the PG position especially with Gobert behind him.
Now the Jazz are back to Trey Burke playing defense at PG and you can see no fear of going at his defense by other PG's.You just hope the Jazz defense can still stay top 3 defensively. They need it because their offense isn't clicking. They have good offensive players ,but they lack good pace.
If the offense doesn't step it up ,they could be on the losing side of a lot of close games.

Looking forward to tuesday matchup with OKC.They come to Utah with what Utah had last year ,3 good frontcourt players. The difference is OKC has let Kanter loose in the middle whereas Utah tried making him into a stretch 4,SMH.OKC comes in with offensive fire power and rebounding and Utah plays with defense and rebounding and hopes to score enough pts to win .
Should be a good game.

If you think he'll be better, it's probably best to hope he's already better now, since he's older (if slightly) than both Neto and Burke.

If we get someone I think its a vet. One thing to look out for here... and most people probably won't like it but... If Burke sucks I could see us going after Jose Calderon. We need our starting point guard to be a ball mover and a shooter on offense. He'd be great in that role on offense. Not sure if we could hide him on defense because he is terrible on that end, but I could see that before I could see us acquiring another project.

Calderon for 15-20 minutes a night with Gobert and Favors in may still be good enough on D. Rest of the minutes go triple wing with Neto mixed in.

Im down with this

May be we can go after D.J Augustine if Cameron Payne outplays him or shows promise enough to get D.J traded.

Not to be a homer but I'd be thrilled to see Calderon in a Jazz uniform, the guy will come back to Spain as another legend, behind the Gasol bros. He's very dedicated and would bring nothing less than true professionalism.

Don't want Calderon. Such a traffic cone. Our defense is good, but we're still establishing good habits and testing the flexibility/adaptability of our patterns. Calderon would ruin that because the defense would ram it down his throat every time... and therefore our defense would quickly become something like "Covering for José" instead of "cover for everybody in all directions." Hope that makes sense.

I want to see an absolute commitment to playing 82 games as a top-10 defense. I think our core guys can make this a realistic project. Don't want it jeopardized by the fringe cast.
