Zach Lowe: Exum Might Not Be the PG Answer Next Season

But he might be the answer in 2-3 years, we just don't know yet and I would stick to developing him until we truly see what we've got here.

In other news, an unknown quantity may not be as large as you assume, but also may not be as small.

Locke had a good talking point yesterday, he said the difference between Burke & Neto compared to Mack is that Mack can turn the corner on a pick and roll adn go to the rim. His ability to go to the rim adn score forces the defense to play the PnR different, and opens up the corner three or the Favors roll to the hoop depending on the choice the defense makes. Locke said it is a complete game changer for the Jazz offense. I listen to the games, so I don't see it, can anyone comment on Lockes observations?

As, he said it, I thought "if this is true where does Dante fit into the jazz future?" Lest you forgot, Dante was extremely bad at going to the hoop. It was painfully obvious to everyone. He only attempted 32 ft last season, that is less than 1 ft attempt per 100 possessions, that is good enough to be ranked 90th out of 90 players who started as a guard in the 14-15 season.

If the Jazz offence works better with a guard who can drive, and Dante can't/won't/doesn't know how to drive, and he is recovering from injury, what do the Jazz do?

I know it's just SL but he had no problem going to the basket in that one game and shot 10 ft's in that game. He just needs to tighten his dribble.

By then Hood, Gobert will be nearing free agency, resolving door that we keep waiting for a piece to be ready but then the already "ready" pieces are on their way out.

Hood was drafted the same year than Exum and Gobert the year before. It's not like he doesn't have time to catch up with both these players. You don't let go of a promising prospect like him just like that, which the Jazz tanked for the previous season. I'd hate to see him become the player many have envisioned on a team other than the Jazz what can I say.

Until the jazz go W 19 and L10 with another PG,(Dante starting)and can better the defensive effort in holding opponents to 94.8 points per 100 possessions ,than Exum is believed to be the only one that can duplicate that and remain in the Jazz plans.
It boggles my mind how a few certain guys here can think because Exum at 19 years old didn't attack the basket like they wanted will always be afraid to take it to the defense.I want to see comparisons to other 19 year old PG's that did better than Exum did when they were starting and defending......seems NO one ever shows comparisons

I think no matter what we're going to give Exum the chance to prove he's the future at the position next season. And to be honest I'm not sure that we have another option. What is Exum's market value right now? Probably not worth a first-rounder.

total non story. The Jazz are fully committed to Exum because they know what he's capable of on both ends of the floor.

I;d be very surprised if Mack isn't our opening day starter next year.
I would be surprised if exum isn't starting from day one

I will be disappointed if Exum doesn't have amazing handles next season. If there is one thing you can work on while recovering from an ACL injury, it's dribbling basketballs.

Jazz will posture as if they are shopping, but will balk at the ridiculous asking prices this off season. Mack will be the starter.
