What's new

Looking for a new team

We are not in the exact same situation. There is no heir apparent behind Hayward as was the case with Kanter and Favors behind Millsap and Big Al.

Having said that, DL needs to step up and bring in players to push us deeper or start trading players, like Hayward. Last season he should have done something. Just losing Hayward after this season would be a disaster. This season he must or it will be a big mistake/blunder.

I'm glad you realize it also. Gordo or Favors is not a Lillard player. We don't have someone who can get 4 new starters and still make it to the second round. We can't let Gordo leave for nothing again or the last 6 years are useless

@Broncster to be fair the goal was to win and make the playoffs last year. They can play it off but I'm not fooled. Now injuries crippled this team so you can understand. But that has only further magnified this season. DL needs to make some things happen or Hayward is gone and that will be a huge setback for this team if they do not get anything for him. He must (more than a need now) step up in the draft, free agency and/or the trade market this off season.
@Jamezz I had mild interest in the Grizz but not now. Jazz or bust.

They did say winning and making the playoffs was not a priority. The season goals were player development and evaluation. Which was stated before the season, so nothing to play off.

That's a complete mischaracterization of my opinion. I wanted the Jazz to tank again this season; I don't mind them losing if the goal is to win it all. Patience is not the problem at all.

Fair enough. But it is a huge problem of fans in general. It is also a huge problem for your average fans who are the ones who keep your team profitable. Tanking for a couple more years is not an option for this team. That was hard for Philly who is one of the largest markets in the NBA.

I feel them saying that is playing it off.

The problem is, the Jazz don't have a clear strategy. They're neither tanking nor adding talent. If the Jazz go into this coming season with essentially the same roster (plus a pick and/or a mediocre veteran), it will be another huge offseason failure. If Hayward leaves next summer for nothing, DL should be canned.

I'm actually with you franklin LOL. I think a lot of people in this forum are delusional when it comes to the Jazz. People don't realize we are in the exact same problem for when Pauly Milsap could leave for nothing... A border line 8th spot playoff team... THE EXACT SAME SITUATION but with Gordo now. Let's make the same mistake as that time too and not trade him and let him walk for nothing

The situations are not the same. This team was the youngest in the West. That team was a veteran laden team with a lot of experience with plenty of players past their prime playing significant minutes. We have players with a lot of room to improve and potential. This team has the potential to be better than an 8th seed. Even this year being very young, riddled with injuries and having some of the worst luck in games that came down to a last shot (which are pure luck statistically who wins) we were still competing for a 5th seed at the end of the season. With a focus on winning, more solid bench, all major players improving (since none have peaked) a 5th seed or better is very doable next year. That is assuming Exum is just an average player. If he lives up to his potential and becomes the best player on this team we can and will be competing at the top. Hayward could be the third best player on this team in 2-3 years at his same level or improved level of play.

Oh I think their strategy is perfectly clear, Develop homegrown talent then supplement with trade and vets. I think they just erred on the side of caution last year.

First of all, I have never heard Hayward say he was thinking about leaving, this is just insecure Jazz fans imaginations. Whether he stays or goes will be determined when his contract is up.

All franchise miss on draft picks, Utah is no different.

I think Franklin has a point about letting solid vets walk without getting any compensation. This is the biggest thing that pisses me off about the Jazz. I wanted to start the rebuild earlier than most Jazz fans who were hanging on to making the playoffs idea.

Franklin only you can decide if you want to go to another team but I will always stay with the Jazz. I lived through showtime in LA and stayed a Jazz fan. I get strange looks when I talk NBA with Celtics fans. "You're a Jazz fan." "what the #^@*@&#? Yet, I am still a Jazz fan.

I will die a Jazz fan even though I enjoy watching other teams. I am this way probably because I was so excited when the Jazz moved to Utah. I didn't care that they sucked. Allan Bristow, Ben Poquette, Rich Kelley. It didn't matter I was just happy to have the NBA in Utah.Younger Jazz fans want S&M days back. So I have seen the bad and good times so I am not so upset about the recent rebuild.

However, I want the Jazz to improve their bench because I believe that when the Jazz get back their full team with an improved bench they will be in the playoffs.

As far as the money goes, I am waiting to see how the Jazz handle the upcoming contracts of their own players, perhaps this is why the Jazz have been saving for that day. The Jazz have several players who are going to get paid but if they let more guys leave with compensation then I might just retire and go lay on the beach somewhere.

I am also a Red Sox fan, all I can tell you is that I had years of misery watching them lose, choke and suck but I remained loyal and in 2004 I experience my greatest fandom moment with them winning it all. I still get emotional when I watch the World Series video of 2004. So when you start thinking about leaving remember how great the moment will be when the Jazz win it all.
