What's new

Looking for a new team

I was supposed to rebuttal hogwash? (and also your commanding verdict thereafter?)

What do you want from me? To quote 1000 posts begging for the Jazz to end the tank and simply put a mediocre team on the floor? To post all the highly filtered 1280thezone.com discussions about "making teh playoffs is teh nex step"? No thanks.

The Utah Jazz don't have the mental fortitude to win a championship and apparently neither do their fans.

For some reason that made me laugh. If you want to spin some big theory that Jazzfanz generally does not want a championship than fine. I think you are absolutely wrong. There are lots of disagreements on how to get there but that is the overwhelming goal.

We can leave it at that.

LOL I love the genuine, heart felt posts you provide. However, you apparently have no clue as to what business is about and how the Miller Co operates. Winning a championship is far, far, far down the list of any priority of the Utah Jazz or Miller Corporation. That would merely be a nice side benefit (that everyone knows will never happen in Utah so long as misguided, mismanaged, cheap ownership is at the helm).

And yeah, I realize the currently apropos argument on JF is that a championship mentality no longer matters. Losing in the playoffs is the ultimate reward.

Nope. Ask Siro and several other posters. Most now only want an LA Clippers brand in the Utah Jazz. This take is about as out of touch as fishonjazz stating that Randy Foye was generally liked around here. He was hated. Jazz fans are not rooting for a championship, only entertainment value added.

You apparently have no idea on how to argue without trying to change the argument. This wasn't about what the Millers goal was. This was what the goal/argument on Jazzfanz is. Those are two separate things.

I would be inclined to agree that the Millers may not be as dedicated to winning a championship as Jazzfanz wants them to be. I hope they step it up this offseason or it is another wasted opportunity.

Edit: I do try to be genuine, thanks lol.

You've had like a month, and multiple suggestions. I thought you would have found a new team by now.

Make a poll.

I remember everyone liking foye (myself included).
I think he set the record for most three pointers ever made in a season for the jazz.

Ahh, tough guy might have potentially found my only bad call in, what, 5 years of posting on JF? I'm staying tuned as well. I almost want to be wrong just to prove to myself that I'm still human.
No human would ever argue for Corbin the way you have, so don't worry. You're not human.

It's not that I don't want a championship. I just realize it won't happen with this squad, and I'm willing to enjoy a good competitive team like Clips or Memphis until next rebuild.

As much as I would enjoy watching a championship team, the NBA is just not that central to my life.

dude if the team wins 50 games and say makes the second round of the playoffs this year and is competitive against the top teams will you eat your words ? What would make you happy this season ??

Which was always the point in holding off making a major change to our squad(see note below). We needed to see who were keepers and who we should trade for upgrades. We didn't really know that until last season. Now we know:

1. Burke has no future with this team.
2. Burks, even when healthy, doesn't contribute much to winning.
3. Hood is a keeper, but he needs some help on the wing.
4. Hayward is a known commodity. A very good player, but he sure isn't worth 25% of our salary cap.
5. Favors still can't play the stretch 4 and probably never will, so if we keep him then we have to adjust our roster accordingly.
6. Gobert -- I thought he was our franchise player going into the season. Now he reminds me too much of the flawed team the Jazz fielded when Mark Eaton played for us, without the defensive dominance Eaton brought. The front office needs to think carefully of how they build a team around Gobert, if the decide to keep him. I'm not convinced we should keep him.
7. Exum, we know he plays great defense, we still don't know if he will develop an offensive game.
8. Lyles looks to be keeper no matter what the rest of the team looks like, but we need to keep an eye on his development.

The rest of the team is meh.

Note: Fear to add veterans is courtesy of the Corbin Syndrome, which states that if you give the coach veteran options to play over your developing core, you will never know if your young players are talented enough to keep.

Wow. Interesting conversation. And I agree that title contention should be the goal. I also don't feel like the current roster is prioritized to get to that level. Hayward just simply isn't good enough to be our best player. Favors should be traded because Lyles could be the real deal.

I would trade Hayward and Favors for a great pick. Healthy Burks, Exum and a high draft pick would replace their development easily. Lyles gets tons of minutes. We would be a playoff team even if we lose those 2.
