Deron Will Cry When He Reads This

We would have been a very different team right now with the Knicks deal. We would have ended up with 2 wing players that can shoot. +1 for the great find MrBlue

I really love what we got out of the deal with NJ but the NY deal may have given us some greater needs- Shooting wing players.

What I found interesting was the piece that said KOC first offered a package to NJ without D Will and then NJ countered including D Will. I wonder what that offer was- maybe Ak or Millsap, both? What would have we gotten? Favors still, maybe Morrow?

Would anyone have preferred the Knicks Melo trade package to the one we got from the Nets?

being a Jazz fan from Jersey, I'm glad we got NJ's package over NY's...

Actual trade

Hypothetical trade
DWill/Raja/Memo for Felton/Gallo/Fields/Randolph/Curry/mid-1st

Looking at both options, the NY trade looks better short-term (not a fan of Gallo) & if it allowed ownership clear Memo's salary for 2011, then I think KOC might have done this. Although competitive, I just don't think those pieces are championship caliber (too finesse/soft).

Potential 2011 Roster:
Felton/Watson/Price
CJ/Fields
Gallo/Hayward
Millsap/Randolph/Evans
Jefferson/??/Elson
*w/ a possibility of trading our 1st (if we miss the playoffs) & NYK/HOU's 1st for Jimmer (8-12 slot??)

As for the NJ trade, I am loving what I'm seeing out of Favors. Size wins championships & I think a front-court of Al & Favors will be "BEASTLY" in a few seasons. Harris pushes the tempo, Hayward is showing to be a worthy lottery pick, & if we can draft a Jordan Hamilton (Texas); I think we'd have a nice core (including GS's '12 pick).

Potential 2011 Roster:
Harris/Watson/Price
CJ/Raja
Hayward/Hamilton
Favors/Millsap/Evans
Jefferson/Memo/??

*I just think Favors will be the only impact player between himself & either Gallo (poor-man's Dirk, ha!) / Randolph (project) - Fields (glue)

The Jazz are in rebuilding mode, and I think they see Favors as an important piece to build around. A bunch of rotation players from NY doesn't really help longer term.

Agree with that 100%. Let's hope Favors will become the player we all think he is supposed to be.

I guess I'd rather have the NJ package, mainly because Favors has so much more upside than any of the players in the NY package. In addition, we also get to keep him for three years after this year at an extremely reasonable salary, and get two picks that help to make the team younger and hopefully let us build around a core of guys who all have good value contracts.

I like the NJ deal much more, mainly because it sends the coach killer ******* to a crappier ****-hole than Utah. Plus we get a bad *** in Favors and Harris is seeming to be able to run the point more effective than DWill was this year.

NY I believe refused to trade both Fields and Gallo, so doubtful we would have gotten both anyway.

I've got a raging fronker from Favors, and that's okay with me. Pick up some wings via draft/trade this summer.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: 3 years from now you won't be able to find and NBA GM who would trade Favors for D-Will straight up. What has me so excited is that it seems like the Jazz actually have a plan and that plan revolves around a front court with Al Jefferson and D-Fav. It finally looks like Utah is serious about building a team from the front court out.

The thing that scares me about Favors is the fact that he doesn't seem to use his athleticism defensively. Dwight Howard at the same age went after shots. Has Favors had any blocks this far with the Jazz? He also doesnt seem to run fluidly. Kind of scary.

Honestly, if those are the only things you're worried about in regard to Favors, I'd say things are looking pretty dang promising. Those are such minor issues in the scheme of things, issues that can be things of the past with just a little bit of coaching and conditioning, and he's still only 19. Once he learns HOW to use his body, this kid is going to be a disaster for other teams to deal with.
