Paul Millsap being shopped by ATL

Do we make a move? We have a good history with Atlanta, we seem to make good deals with each other. But what would it take to get back 'Sap?

Would we throw out Lyles, Burke, Burks, or even Exum for Millsap? Would Favors have to be included?

ATL seems to want to move him for cap space to resign Horford for a 5-year max, so getting back Favors to join Horford and Howard makes less sense than retaining Millsap.

Could a front court of Millsap, Gobert, and Favors backing them up coexist?

He played for us once so obviously we need to get him back.

Well obviously it's not just that.

He's an All-Star. A top-20, maybe top-15 player in the league. He's a superb defender. He fits exactly what Snyder wants to do offensively. Plus, on the chance that we can keep Favors, we'd have a studly front court rotation of Millsap/Gobert/Johnson/Favors.

If we can get Millsap for Lyles, Burke, and picks, we should do it. Don't know if I'd move Burks or Exum for him though. We need some backcourt depth.

Lyles? Millsap is UFA in one year.

Lyles isn't a guaranteed, sure-fire All-Star or even starting-caliber player. He's young, but we can't be young forever. At some point we need to flip assets for stars and contend. We are contenders if we add Millsap. He's that good.

Millsap coming off the bench? It would have to be favors... And just no... I love Millman but it's not a fit anymore.

No. We don't need Millsap. We have Gobert and Favors. It doesn't make sense to move Favors for a one year rental. And it doesn't make sense to move Lyles and picks because it will mess up team chemistry. Millsap won't want to come off the bench, and neither will Favors.

I said Favors would come off the bench. He can play next to either Millsap or Gobert at the 4 or 5, and he'd be the first option off the bench. And he'd still get 25-30 minutes a game. We could even put Millsap at SF in some lineups.

Ya'll are killing me lol you don't think Millsap would be a good fit next to Hill, Hood, Hayward, Gobert, and Favors? Get out of here. It'd be icing on the cake if we retain Exum and Burks.

This is why there should be mandatory IQ testing to be on the Internet.

Because Paul Millsap would be a good fit for us and would put us in the top 3 in the West if we keep Favors?

Sap is 31 and Lyles is 20 ... Lyles as a rookie and 2-3 years younger than Sap as a rookie was probably the better player. You guys are overrating Sap, and I would never trade a player with as much upside as Lyles with all those years ahead of him for a player who is on the downside of his career unless he's good enough to take us to the NBA finals. You're trading away the future.

But Millsap is a perennial All-star lol. He's made the last what, three All-Star games? He was the top player in defensive win shares in the league. Millsap is legit, he's a two-way monster and he's seriously a Top-20/Top-15 player in the league, which you can't really say for anybody on our squad yet, although Hayward is entering that conversation.

Not looking like this will happen anyway, Horford just signed with the Celtics.

Hawks will be much better with Millsap/Howard than Horford/Howard.

First things first, welcome to the board.

I would love to get Millsap if we didn't have to give up any of Exum, Hood, Hayward, Favors, Gobert, or Lyles.

I would flip Burks, Burke, and picks for him though.

The issue I think you're failing to see is that there seems to be a certain timeframe for the Jazz in their plan and what they want to accomplish. Trading away (probably multiple) future core players for an aging Millsap who will hit the market and probably be offered a max does not make sense for THIS team. At all.

To be fair, he probably wouldn't have been an all star in the west

Neither is millsap playing In the west on the jazz with favors and Gobert
