debate about whether him being a midget is a factor in how good he can be at the top level

I mean, regardless of his height he was damn good last season. He and Boston as a whole are easier to gameplan against in the playoffs, but as a regular season player he is terrific and I think the Celtics will win a ton of games this year.

Midget or not, I'm still pissed that we didn't trade for him when we had the chance.

He's a midget and can't take a team close to the ultimate prize. No thanks

Why are we so obsessed with IT's height right now?

Boston is ranked one spot ahead of us in these power rankings. Somebody called IT a midget, and then one of the resident trolls said he was an all star and so they were better than us because we don't have any all stars. Then somebody else said small guards can't lead you to a championship, in which several others objected and used Tony Parker as an example. Then I kinda decided just to see how many ways I could think of to make fun of IT's lack of height.

Anyway, **** Boston. Utah Jazz gonna roll dem biznitches!

Would have been nice to have him instead of Treyd, for sure. However, once you see how good our defense is this year, I doubt you'll be wishing we had Gary Coleman on our team.

That's the part that pisses me off. Exum had already become the starter, IT was the perfect backup. His contract was great and was available for pennies. Heck, PHX might have taken IT for Burke straight up.

As far as Boston's ranking ahead of us, I've got no problem with it. Like I said, they are a great regular season team. I'd like our chances in a 7 game series, but Stevens knows how win games during the regular season and they play in the easier conference. Horford is also a gigantic upgrade of Sullinger. That is on par with the Hill-Neto upgrade.

Yeah, Boston is going to be good, and IT is pretty damn good for an Ewok. And I've been more frustrated by how long it took to trade Burke than anything else over the last few years. However, at this point, I'd really rather have Exum/Hill playing both sides of the floor than getting a ton of scoring from the PG spot and settling for a liability on the other end. Even if Treyd had been a lot better on the offensive, I just didn't like the way he fit with the team.

And even though I think Boston is going to be good, I believe we'll be better than them this year. I've watched my share of Jazz teams who were pretty good in the regular season, but really weren't built to go deep in the playoffs. Let Boston have their mini all star. He can watch us on TNT from his fishing boat, while we're playing in the second round.:D

I wanted like Hell to trade Kanter for Thomas even though he had his limitations. Not sure he would have a place here with the current team makeup. Jazz are banking on length and defense and have been definitely putting that plan into action for a few years now. I still can't believe what they have put together. It's kind of like cheering for some indy band before they make it big. I don't even care if they national press validates the hype. I am sooooo fully bought in. When is the first pre season game again, so we can stop arguing how short IT is?

We better be better than them! We have the better shooting guard, small forward, power forward, and center in the starting lineups and the better bench. IT and maybe horford are about the only guys that there is argument for their guy being better than ours in the top 10 rotation of each team

Agree with one exception. I'd take Avery Bradley over Rodney Hood in a heartbeat. 15 ppg, 36% 3P, first team defense. Imagine our perimeter defense with Bradley/Hill/Exum. It would be simply awesome, probably "best ever" Sure I'll get blasted for this, bring it on.......

Our defense will already be more than enough. It will be awesome with a healthy Exum, Gobert and Favors. Plus adding Hill. At this point I like the offense that Hood brings. I'll stay with Hood.

Both of these posts are right imo. I think they are pretty even.

I take hood for his offensive versatility. His three ball, midrange game, pull up off the dribble (probably his best weapon imo), and search dribble getting the defender on his back, plus I think he has a pretty good untapped post game. Dude has lots of ways to score.

Needs to get to the line more for sure though... plus he is a great free throw shooter iirc.

But ya, having bradley, X, and too big to defend the perimeter while The Rim Reapers eat all the souls in the paint would be awesome too.

Can we get back to talking about short stack? I was really enjoying the smurfs names he was coming up with.

This. Hood will end up a VASTLY superior offensive player.

I'm calling it right now. This is the season Hayward finally gets recognized as a star.

1. GS - but Green starts causing problems now that he's the 4th option.
2. Cavs
3. Spurs
4. Jazz. DL gets GM award. Quin gets COY. Johnson might get 6th man.Gobert could get DPOY.

IT is fine but he limits how you play when he's on the floor. He's very ball dominant and then he can't guard anyone. I'd rather have Hill for flexibility even if he doesn't put up the same numbers.

IT would be phenomenal off the bench but if he is your starting PG there is a limit to how far you can go imo.

For the first part I quoted, is it possible that he dominated the ball because he didn't have a great scoring supporting cast? If he had better scorers surrounding him is it possible that he becomes more efficient with less shots and increases his assist numbers?

For the second part of your post that I quoted, what point guard could you put on last year's Boston team that would take them really deep into the playoffs? They had some decent players but that team lacks star power.

(Just playing devil's advocate here)
