What's new

For those of you who don't like Jimmer...

My anger and frustration at the Jazz FO if they select Fredette with the 6th pick will rival my anger and frustration at the hayward at the 9th pick last year.

But I'm cool with them drafting Fredette with the 12th pick. It's a gamble but I don't know who else at pick 12 I'd rather put my money on. It's a fairly safe bet I think - in spite of the naysayers.

Ute fans need to put away their pitchforks and torches. I haven't seen one poster suggest we take Jimmer with our first pick. In fact, I haven't seen anyone suggest we take him in the top 10.

When people talk about drafting Jimmer, it's always in reference to the 2nd pick.

And contrary to what some of you diffusional fans might believe, we WILL be in the lottery this year. There's no way in hell this team makes the playoffs.

Somebody said to take Fredette with the 6th pick. That's what I was responding to. It would be a waste of the pick since he'll still be there at 12. That's all I"m saying.

Agree. Many other choices with much bigger upside are available at #6 even if Barnes is gone. If we have to reach, I'd rather us reaching for Brandon Knight.

To keep confusion down, you could quote it next time. The vast majority are saying 2nd pick. If you're responding to something on page three then you're going to look agenda driven without a quote.

If he keeps blowing teams up in the tourney then he's going top ten. sports are all about what did you do for me today. The tourney will be fresh on their minds. We don't know where he'll go, but pretending he'll be there at 12 is plenty far outside professional opinion at this point.

**Edit**
I found the source of your confusion. A completely different thread.

Guys. We need NJ to win, win, win! How are we going to justify taking Jimmer in the top 5? Jazz fall to the 8-10 range and sweet lil' Jimmer is ours FOREVER!

NJ loses! Yes!

Hey, Clint, Jazz don't have to draft Jimmer with the 5th pick or 8 or 10. They can get him with the 12th pick.

BTW, Drifter was being sarcastic.

Hence the reason Hayward gets picked up in the lottery. Sadly, it was the Jazz that got suckered in. If Butler had made it to just the Sweet 16 or even the Elite 8 and then got bounced, Hayward might have been a late 1st round pick.

BYU fans need to do the same. I can only speak for myself but this isn't a BYU-Utah issue for me. I'd take a Cougar in a second if I felt he was going to help the Jazz take it to the next level. I just don't think he is. There's also a few BYU fans on this site that feel the same way.

Yeah, the scouts and GM's aren't always right (to say the least), but it is what it is. Jimmer may very well end up top 10 and saying otherwise is pure speculation.

On Hayward: There's what, one or two guys taken below Hayward who means anything at this point? Who were you taking again?

This.

I didn't like the Hayward pick when it first happened. Then, after the emotions calmed, I realized that it really wasn't necessarily a bad pick considering who was still left. And especially looking back now, who else was better? Whiteside? LOL....

For those wanting to compare Jimmer to Eddie House, isn't that exactly what we lack right now? Someone that can come in, knock down a few treys, and change the momentum of the game? Or are we needing a few more bricks from Raja, CJ, Earl, Price, and Harris?

A lot can change between now and draft day, but I think the 2nd pick being used for Jimmer is exactly what we need (unless there is clearly a better player out there). A guy that can come in, knock down a few treys, solidify the backup PG spot, and provide us with some shooting.
