Another somewhat convoluted proposal

1st and 2nd NBA contracts would work the same way that they do now. The draft would work the same way. Between the draft and FA I propose a yearly redraft of players who have 8 years NBA experience to be ran thusly:3 rounds. The team with the best record picks first and the team with worst last in all 3 rounds. In the first round you must pick a player that was on your roster at the end of the previous season or pass on your pick. Players selected 1-16 will be paid the mega max, players salary will be further decided by where they are selected and may change from one year to the next. Since they are essentially on a one year deal any player selected in the rrdraft will have injury protection where any team agrees to pay the full salary of an injured player for up to 3 additional seasons at the rate at which the player was earning when injured.

It seems to me that the players that would get stuck in that situation would be on the best teams. Further Players could earn their way on to a better team year over year by good individual play and teams could earn better FA by good team play.

I think there is an argument against it, but its better than the current system for sure IMO. NBA really needs to get rid of incentives for losing.

Completely agree that whatever can be done to stop tanking in the NBA should be done. I basically think tanking should, in a certain sense, be illegal. Not criminally illegal, but I think fans should be able to get refunds on season tickets, broadcasters should get some of their money back, same as the people advertising. If taxpayers funded the home arena they should be repaid by the team.

That is dumb. In most cases tanking is fan supported and encouraged. If the Jazz lose Hayward, I would encourage the season to be tanked to get a top 3 pick. As long as the system is designed to benefit tankers, teams should tank.

No, my anger starts with the idea of free agency which I think it's obsolete and outdated and made sense back when you could perhaps argue that players were being taken advantage of. I think not having a choice in where you work is a pretty fair exchange for making at least 900,000 a year even if you're the lowliest scrub in the league.
