JazzFanz Martyrs In Memoriam

Sloanfeld is now out for a combined three weeks FYI.

So I noticed. Still looking over his work looking for more infractions? What's your repeat offender rate in here, anyway?

Is it true that Jason passed the hat for contributions to keep this forum open? Does that have a bearing on how some get treated in here?

sometimes babes in the deep dark woods just don't know where the bears go poop. . . or the reasons why. Maybe instead of rep you could have "contributor" brackets like some charities. Just break it out in about five graded classes so we know who to say thanks to.

We've deviated from these rules slightly in extreme cases. There have been a handful of instances where we awarded someone the equivalent of two infractions at once or temporarily banned troll accounts.

Thanks for the clarification kicky.

He was just a busy guy over a period of a couple of days and voting doesn't happen instantaneously. In the alternative, you could believe we have a vendetta.

Based upon our previous experience with sloany when he was banned I have no doubt that he will return as reliably as genital warts in various incarnations after he finally annoys his official account into oblivion.

Not as high as you'd think. For all the grousing the number of posters who actually get themselves perma-banned is pretty low. Experience on other sports boards indicates jazzfanz' permisiveness. IIRC, Trout made it less than 3 days on RealGM when Jazzfanz was down last year and I've gotten banned in under 24 hours at the discretion of a sole moderator on some other team websites for posts that would not have received even a warning here.

No. Whomever told you that doesn't know what he's (or she's) talking about. When the board went down about a year ago several users donated towards the purchase of new board software. That was a response to an event that was unique in the history of the website and no one conditioned their gift on specific treatment. Furthermore, I can affirmatively state that whether or not someone gave money that particular week has never entered into any moderating discussion: ever.

And I will give you an unequivocal guarantee. If for some reason financial difficulties would force the site out of Jason's hands I am a ready-and-willing purchaser. There is, to my knowledge, no risk that Jason would have to give up the site, and even if there was there is no anticipated risk that Jazzfanz will disappear going forward. We are not selling indulgences.

And BTW: It is customary to at least receive even a single warning or infraction before you complain about the moderation. This kind of pre-emptive bitching is very unbecoming.

I have no idea what's going on right now.

So, judging from the fact that I haven't been hauled up and served my lesson yet, I'll take this occasion to let this thing go. I don't suppose it's too much to put up with trout as long as what he's saying isn't true. If he starts saying some things that are true, I'll start paying attention again.

I understand that there are some old-timers around here who all wanted me to try to do some meaningful contribution on some threads in here. See you there.

I'm thinking of doing a new thread: Top Ten Reasons Why Babe is Hopper:

10) They both post in Ebonics

9) They both kiss up to the mods.

8) Phyllis Schafley lookalikes.

7) The Dow went down.

8) The Dow went up.

7) JazzFanz is boring

6) The day before Hopper was banned babe was born.

5) Sappa is both of them.

4) Banned posters always come back in multiples. If their IQ is over 4 and they have twenty bucks for Vblock. Of course posters with lower mental power who live for rep and don't have the technological knowhow or are not trusted with the family finances by their wives just have to be befriended by the JazzFanz community and helped along with the important things in life...... er. . . . in JazzFanz life anyway.

3) Trout knows.

2) Trout hates republicans and any vile people with unapproved views.

1) Trout wants more rep.

You know, for a lying ****, you're pretty smart.

Wow!

For some reason I can't explain to myself, this is possibly the best post I have read on this site:

There's a reason this place thrives amongst an extremely diverse range of opinions. Anyone who feels persecuted for being too far on "the right" needs to read Gameface's libertarian views, Pearl's staunch whatever I can't figure out exactly views, and Duck's conspiracy kettled views. There's a distinct reason some are highly respected and others are ridiculed.

BTW, Kicky's supahugehorselargecan'tbegintoexplainit package>Trout has a what?

Just thought I'd beat Trout to it.

I will confirm this, for whatever my opinion is worth. It's never been brought up during my short term, and when I was first brought on I read a bunch of the old threads for curiosity's sake and never saw it brought up at all.

I'd also safely estimate that most "problems" here and reports are made by a small handful of individuals. In all the board's variants, I managed to be a regular here for 8 years or so without feeling the need to ever report a post, and managed to get all of one infraction in my life for a profanity laced tirade against the owner of the Sonics, which was deserved. The vast majority of members here are like that IMO. In other words, I don't believe paying members get any special treatment. They are just like the majority of people who don't cause problems, or report them for that matter.

And I thank you for your confirmation of this.

Overall, Dalemon's ex-link to the Hater's Ball just changed my whole outlook on Trout, it brought the laughter back for me. Yeah I know the language wasn't acceptable, but it really just looked too true to the whole idea of anyone who just lives for hate. What can/should we do with that, if not laugh?

Trout reportedly knows his stuff about the Jazz. Maybe I'll have to spend more time over there and see if I'm not on the right side of the loyalty equation after all.

how can you be certain?

Is it true that Jason passed the hat for contributions to keep this forum open? Does that have a bearing on how some get treated in here?

It is true that those who make a donation at a certain level are eligible to have a "private forum" if they so choose, that allows them to be the "moderator" of their forum, and restrict access to posters of their choice - - so to that extent, those who make a donation do have special privileges, but it applies only to their personal forum and not to the rest of the site.
