Quotes from the Wolves forums after trading Rubio - "I wanna cry simply. I love Minny and Ricky"

It's like Tony Romo's mother had an affair with Pistol Pete and out came Rubio... favorite cousin of Ginobili

Maybe it's my fandom, but I'm liking this trade more and more. Maybe we will play as a quicker pace and take a lot of pressure of Hood and Hayward (assuming he stays) this would allow Hayward to focus more on just being a scorer, could be the next step in his evolution as a player.

"Rubio is Stockton 2.0" is cringeworthy

In a lot of ways Stockton is a reasonable comparison, with Rubio's greatest strengths being passing and defense. However, the comparison just goes to show how complete a player Stockton was. If Rubio had Stock's shooting, he'd probably be a top PG in the NBA right now.

Signs point to him developing a shot. He killed us this year... They mentioned their shooting coach as well. I bet he is upset and takes it as a challenge and quin teaches him to shoot. Then he looks like JUAN STOCKTON. This thread reminded me of when other teams lost to us. The nature was that they lost and we won. Yet some of y'all really want Hill @$80 million plus.

Now that the dust has settled I only have one real concern with him. There is A LOT to like, and be positive about but there is one MAJOR MAJOR problem we can't ignore. His skill set, and strengths don't match up very well with most of our roster. It's the Donald Trump in the room, it stinks, and we must address it.

The problem is his consistent ability to hit shots, and finish at the rim. Teams sag off him, and it messes up the pick and roll. I agree there were positive signs with him in the 2nd half of last year.
We'll need for that to continue if we are really going to succeed with Rubio. I'd love to see us run the ball more because, according to Twolves fans, this is one elite skill. Transition offense. He really isn't that great in pick n roll half court.

Can we run a little more with the likes of Rubio, (hopefully Hayward), Mitchell, and Bolomboy? It seems like too much of our roster is slow and or (plays)old, Joe Johnson, Ingles, Favors, etc. We aren't a run and gun up and down the floor type of team.

In a way it seems like if Hayward left this would be a chance to change the feel and play of our team.

Has Ricky ever played in an offense that tried to generate shots for him from where he likes to shoot? Doing that + limiting the amount of times he's holding the ball in the final seconds of the shot clock are easy things for Q to implement and will make a huge difference.

All nice quotes but a little perspective is desperately needed here.

The Wolves have lost 170 games in the last 3 years...one-seven-zero. They've been garbage since Garnett left and not that good the last few years he was there.

Rubio has been a like-able piece in an otherwise steaming pile of ****.

QS has raised the bar exponentially the last two years. Fans expect winning from here on out.

No one around here is gonna be satisfied with a nice kid who tries hard every night.

Why are you being so rational?

Don't you know he played with Love and Wiggins and KAT?

adequate shooting can be learned/taught. court vision is much harder to pick up, and he has it. i'm remaining positive.
