Memphis seems to be playing well without their $80m dollar man and they are going to need room to sign Marc Gasol. Maybe it requires a combination of Millsap, Miles, Bell, and/or one of the two lottery picks, but would you trade for Gay? What would you give up? Gay and Hayward at the wings is not a bad combo.

I'd be extremely hesitant to give somebody who's basically played 1/2 season worthy of that contract that kind of money. And I think a lot can be said as to how well Memphis is playing with out him. Plus didn't we just get done paying a SF $80MM? I'm not really in the mood to go down that road again. Having said that, I really like Gay and it's not my money.

If they wanted Millsap, Memo, Bell for Mayo, Gay, Arthur. I'd do it in a heartbeat. Our bench would be deeper. And Arthur has shown flashes of being a great backup.

Harris, Hayward, Gay, Favors, Jefferson with Jimmer, Mayo, Miles, Athur being on the bench.

Why the hell would Memphis do this?

That's pretty ****ing spot on. At the very least with where I would be at on it.

It is worth noting that the guy's combination of length, height, athleticism, strength, and skills is pretty ****ing rad. Maybe not a true first option, but he's not much different from Granger at the end of the day (Granger's been more productive and is more fiery, but Gay has a definite physical advantage). AND I think you can make a case that he's young enough to be a part of the rebuild.

For me, the crux of such a decision (besides what it exactly is you're trading away) comes down to that for the money you're spending (/blowing) on Slow Al and Harris, I'd sure as **** rather spend it on Gay. Unfortunately, I don't think the Jazz could unload those players in a deal for Gay (although they might in others). That Gay might not be helping the Grizzlies much doesn't mean he couldn't be a hell of a player for the Jazz (like Deron what Deron was doing for the Nets once he got a little more acclimated and before his wrist really went to ****).

The new CBA is also a consideration, especially when considering the length of the deal. It's not the wisest thing to gamble on such an investment right now. But again, it's not my money.

Ewing Theory [yoo-wing thee-ry] -noun- Theory popularized by sports and popculture writer Bill Simmons to explain when sports teams inexplicably become better after their star player leaves the team for any reason (trade, injury, etc.).

And he's FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! FREEEE FALLLLLLINN!!!!!

You serious, dude? I mean, I'm sure the Jazz's front office would cream manjuice galore if they got an offer like that from Memphis. But what in the hell did you smoke. Cremated butterflies mixed with THC?

Saves Memphis like 50 million, allowing then 1 year of lux. tax, instead of 5 more years (once, they sign Gasol). They almost traded Mayo for Mcroberts. So Mayo's avble. Millsap's better then Arthur. And it would free up Mayo's minutes for Henry, Allen, Young which have all showed potential. Maybe Utah has to throw in Miles instead of Bell or Bell plus the 12th pick.

I think that Memphis would atleast think about the $ issue with this deal. Once you think about the Tax hits and riding themselves of Gay's contract, For a insurance paid deal in Okur, Bell's cheap contract, and a potential rotation of Millsap, Randolph, Gasol. Then use the 12th pick to add some depth at the 3. It might make them a better team?

Memphis might trade Gay for a nice player and relief, but they're not throwing in other players to inexplicably sweeten it for the Jazz.

So you don't think a Millsap, Bell, Okur, plus 12th pick for Mayo, Gay, Arthur would get it done?

As Karl would say, "Not no, but HELL no." if for no other reason than that if the Grizzlies wanted to trade those players, they think they can get more than what they're getting from the Jazz on the open market. Besides, isn't Mayo an RFA this offseason anyway?

I don't think it's any mystery that the Grizz drastically improved after he became injured...

Denver became a lot better after unloading Melo.

While NY became worse.

Lets stop trying to get soft cancerous over paid prima donas, shall we?

Lol, all reped out. I think Mayo has 1 more year until hes a RFA. And I think we might be surprised, what Memphis is after. Remember Josh Mcroberts for OJ Mayo :)

I would want him if he wasn't on a max contract. He is a great player, but he isnt quite on that super-star or efficient scorer level that garners a max contract.

WHY? Do you see how good Memphis is doing? Why would they dump Mayo, who is still young and has major potential for that? A 12th pick is a huge gamble. Arthur is still young, and is far more athletic than Millsap. That is trading their core. You're out of your protocol.
