Rubio traded to Jazz

So strange to me that Hayward would choose Rubio over Hill.

Hill's shooting spreads the floor for Hayward's drive. Rubio's poor shooting clogs the paint for Hayward.

It's a strange one for me.

Can't tell if you're being serious. A PG who looks for his own shot first against a PG who not only can get you open looks but actively tries to make it happen. It should be obvious why any player would prefer playing with a playmaker like Rubio.

A PG who can space the floor/score gets you open in a different way

Its hard to say which is more effective until we see Rubio in the offense. When Hill was at his best and the team was healthy we were a top 10 offensive team.

Maybe Hayward knew Hill had turned down that 4yr/$80m-ish offer from Utah and was being unreasonable. They're friends, but at some point you have to say, "dude, WTF?" Lindsey probably was very open with Gordon and discussed the next set of options.

I don't think DL would discuss all roster moves with Gordon, but you certainly get opinions to make sure players are on board. Dennis likely asked Gobert about Rubio too.

If that report is true that Gordon wants a pass-first PG, isn't this a dig on Hill, Mack and Exum?
We all know they are not pass-first PG but to point it out is just brutal.

By the way, the Jazz do have a pass-first PG in Neto.
Too bad he gets limited minutes during games:mad: Mack!
This "pass-first" talk is just crap. A lot of the offense runs through Hayward. We're not back in the 80's with Stockton/Malone. And the best PG in that era (with apologies to Stockton) was Magic Johnson. Magic was a PG who did everything. He wasn't pass-first, but his scoring sure opened up everything for his teammates.

The ideal PG in today's era is someone who can pass, penetrate and hit the 3. And defend on the other end. Hill wasn't flashy, but he ticked off all the boxes. The only things he lacked were speed and health. I actually do feel sorry for him because he's been underappreciated and underpaid his whole career.

We'll miss his 3PT shooting. But Quin will adapt the offense to fit Rubio's strengths. My guess is that IF Hayward returns, Gordon won't have to initiate the offense as much. Hayward's scoring will increase, but his assists will drop.

I'll agree with you about Neto over Mack. But it really should have been Exum over Mack. Neto is a 3rd-stringer. That's all he'll ever be. He's just not that good.

So Ricky flew all the way from Spain to San Diego to help pitch Hayward, then he turns around and take another flight to go to the SL game?

Dude knows how to quickly ingratiate himself with the fans and team, doesn't he?

Even in Minnesota he seems to have always been a GREAT teammate. Sadly his only downfall is the shooting...

I left early to beat the traffic and right as I walked out Rubio and Gobert got out of a car to go in. Rubio seemed really cool. Jetlag be damned he let me fan boy a sec

This trade looks even better now. We need a player to facilitate and set up easy baskets. Rubio is going to be great for us next year and great for Gobert and for Favor's possibly.

I'm also so glad we didn't extend Hill. We would not want that contract at his age now.

Rubio fits much better than Hill and fits with this team well.

I really want to see Ingles, Hood and especially Mitchell play off of Rubio.

Dont want to scare Jazz fans but Sergio Llull tore his ACL yesterday in a warm up game playing for Spain. Could mean Rubio will see more run for Spain in Eurobasket.

Whether or not The Dunkster re-signed with us I just think calling a Jazz player's wife a prick because of a twitter pic is boo worthy.
She's not a prick, she's a prick tease. You can NEVER convince me, given how things played out, that the shamrock outfits were an innoncent mistake. It was a "tell."

The only problem is that Gordon was getting paid to disclose his decision on The Player's Tribune. Wifey was excited about the decision and the move to Boston. But Gordon had to backpedal quickly. In any case, good riddance to both.

Don't get me wrong, I think Hayward decided on Boston a year before 'the indecision' when the reports came out that summer about him wanting to go to join the Celtics, then DL had some meeting with Hayward about his future with the team (I would love to have heard that convo).

I think he probably struggled a bit with his decision because of the team's success this year and potential if healthy, but ultimately I think he made the decision a year ago.

I am going to buy my first Jazz jersey since the AK/Fesenko era this season and it's going to be Rubio.

LOVE RUBIO. My wife will probably try to smooch him when he comes to town.
