Extend Hood ?

4 years @ $65M is a fair deal. Hood has value in the league. If the Jazz hesitate it's due to needing to assess Favors and Exum.

I could see the jazz letting him test, though I would love to extend early. Market will be soft this off-season. Lots of free agents, low cap space.

Which might be motivation to wait. Hood has a pretty low cap hold. There are some scenarios under which Jazz could open up some decent space to pursue another FA and THEN sign Hood and/or Exum.

what are the chances he truly explodes and takes a massive leap ??? I can't imagine him taking some extraordinary leap that results in a ridiculous bidding war.

Rubio will get him good looks he just needs to knock em down and not be as streaky. I dont think i saw him play an entire game well last season. Good first half then fade in second or vice versa. I want to see a more consistent effort from him this year, the team is going to need it.

Exactly. And that's why you don't extend him now. Better to pay more for a player who has proven he can be a reliable starter - which Hood hasn't done - than to pay $15-$17m for a sub. Besides, Hood may be out of a position if Mitchell busts out. Donovan is definitely not a 3. Can Hood guard that position?

I would probably hold off on extending him prior to the upcoming season unless it came at a bargain. He needs to put up a healthy, consistent year in which he also shows promise as a go-to scorer before I would be comfortable committing significant long-term money to him. This year will go a long way in determining his (& Exum's) long-term future with this team. Here's hoping they both take that next step forward.

15 a year.... 4/60 would be an absolute steal. Freaking Tim Hardaway Jr. just signed for 4/71 so 4/80 for Hood is likely more realistic.

I would throw up in my mouth if the Jazz signed him for 4/80. I just dont think he is worth that and I dont think he would get that on the "open" market. If the Jazz offer 4/60 he better run with it because if he waits until next year 4/40 is what he might end up with.
