I’ve soured on the idea. A huge beef aside from the injury stuff is putting a guy at PF who isn’t really a PF and can’t rebound.
Kevin Love I think is a more realistic option (sort of) that I think gets overlooked because of age. I think he’d make us a contender. Unfortunately, he’d be available if/when LeBron leaves and by that point we wouldn’t have appropriate salary to send back.
Another guy I’d like (and have mentioned too much) is Otto Porter, who I don’t think gets moved, but he’s on a much larger salary than what he’s producing (which I think we can absorb with Donovan on a rookie deal).
I’m honestly not seeing a lot of attainable guys.

No doubt he was good but we are throwing all of these assets to get him at all cost... like the scoring is the whole story. He’s not good on defense and has had two major surgeries on his knee. If it was just the contract then cool but some want to give up all of our assets take on dead money and give a risky contract. He’s good but not that good.
The board just has a strange fascination with him.
Yeah, I agree that they should not trade too much for him. I also think he is a huge risk, but I am okay with taking some risks if there is a good reward. I think Snyder would love a playmaking shot creating 4. He could be a great fit with Gobert if he can get healthy and reach some of his potential. Or even if he plays as well as he did last year would be huge on our team.
People are locked onto him here because he is a potential all-star level player that is maybe attainable due to the risk. All-star level players are hard to trade for. I am also sure that many have followed his career more than other players due to his religion.

It’s just weird to me. If I were to suggest trading for Gallinari for expiring people would lose their **** but he has injury risks a shorter contract and is actually a more efficient scorer... there is an age gap and we know more of what he is... but at least we aren’t giving up all our assets to get him ya know.
If you pay too much for a high risk endeavor you take all the upside out of the deal.

Gallinari would be good for us if he could stay healthy. Big if, but he is a great fit.
My favorite new concept is going after Orlando's first rounder by taking Biyombo and/or Fournier. If we somehow got a Porter, we would care less about paying Biyombo his $17 per year the next couple years. This draft is loaded with quality bigs. Great time to get high into the lottery.

Has anyone mentioned Jerami Grant from OKC? He's a UFA this summer. His stats aren't great but he looks like a player.

The earth-shaking dunks are fun and the opponent-starts-crying blocks are great, but there’s more to Jerami Grant then just those plays. He plays with high energy whenever he touches the court. He isn’t afraid to put his body out on the line for his teammates. He can play up to four positions at any given time. But most importantly, he was one of the few OKC Thunder players who stepped up in the playoffs.
Grant showed improvement both in his game and his physical appearance during the season, a sign of a player who truly cares about his craft. My guess is he uses this offseason to fully develop his newfound skills/discover talents he may not have known he possessed.
Don’t expect earth-shattering numbers from Jerami Grant next season. But don’t be surprised when his name gets talked around a lot more NBA circles come 2018.

Yeah, there is a big difference between pairing Mitchell(22), Gobert (25) with a 22 year old PF with upside than a 29 year old player on the decline. A shorter contract is not necessarily better but Gallinari does not have a shorter contract either.
**** ****ing Hayward and what he did to us but I wonder what Ainge is thinking seeing two other wings tearing it up. Hayward going to play the 4 next year? SOB would sell his own kid down the river if it benefited him (he actually kinda did). Not sure how expendable he sees him, especially when he’s making $30M coming off an injury at a position occupied by two other guys contributing to them being at the top of their conference.

I’d like that, too. But, really, if he’s a sacrificial pawn, I think it’d be prudent to look at things from a basketball angle and what makes the team better. Also would feel good for him to return from injury and the the bitch to a guy who just finished his rookie year. He can play Batgirl to Donovan’s Batman. And he can be stuck in Utah making less money.
