What's new

Nikola Mirotic

For what though? They'd already traded their 2018 first to Chicago. What is it that they have that we could want? I dunno if 2 seconds is worth that much for us. We've had a tonne for seconds that haven't turned out to anything at all.
I’m talking about Favors for Mirotic swap where we send two seconds. The deal hung up because they didn’t want Niko’s extra year. In this scenario they get out of it while also collecting two seconds.

Ah. Were we trading Mirotic for Royce?

My prediction is that if Niko starts for NOP, he’ll average 20+ with them and they won’t be nearly as pressured to bring Boogie back at a high price.

Mirotic isnt worth what they got for him, glad we didn't get robbed. All Jazz fans who wanted him at all cost should get robbed of their starbursts

Favors and 2 seconds for Mirotic? When was that reported?

I think you need to re-read. I’m saying send Favors to NOP with two seconds. This is still the best deal out there...

NOP misses out on Monroe. They didn’t want the extra year of Mirotic. Obviously they’re trying to make the playoffs and keep AD happy, but wouldn’t Favors and two seconds be worthy of consideration for NOP?

Keep dat hope alive.

Interesting. Is it this even within the rules? It would be interesting to know how much the Pels value Mirotic vs Favors.

My sense is that though they say they didn't want Mirotic's second year, it wasn't really that big a deal to them -- more a ploy to get more out of the Bulls.

But if the value to them of Mirotic and Favors is similar, it would work out well for them (and likely for us, given what Favors's market is looking like these days).

People just traded can be moved straight up for another player. I’m not 100% sure on draft picks but they themselves have to be dealt solo.

In any case, I like a top twenty protected first rounder this year that converts to the WAS and SAS second rounders (from Burke and Diaw deals) if they don’t get our pick this year [there’s no way we end up a top ten record]. It gives it a nice aesthetic. Two years of Mirotic vs. expiring of Favors with picks.

The Pels were wanting Monroe and apparently offering him a starting position, so I’d be curious if their view of Favors. Favors becomes a Boogie backup plan if he splits for LA or wherever.

Another question is how they view Davis at the 5.

But it sounds from one of the Pels' boards I took a quick look at, like they're looking forward to the buyout market to get another center. Or maybe send a 2nd rounder for someone like O'Quinn. Maybe they prefer the bargain-bin center route + Mirotic compared to Favors and a couple of low picks. Who knows?

Certainly likely.

Can we finally rename this thread in ersan ilyasova?dont know why the jazz are hesitating. Ersan for a 2nd rounder is a no brainer...

Of course, swapping Favors for Mirotic wouldn't stop them from going bargain shopping, and they'd still pocket the couple extra second-rounders (if 2nd rounders are legal to trade in this situation). It may just be that they end up preferring the fit Mirotic provides.

I think they'll want to hang on to Mirotic until they see if they can (or want to) re-sign Cousins. I think Utah has a good opportunity to pick up Mirotic in the summer if they either have 100% cap space to absorb his contract or they use some combination of cap room and the non-guaranteed deals of Thabo, Jerebko and Udoh.

Pelicans sign EMEKA OKAFOR to a 10 day. Dude hasn’t played in 5 years. Let’s send Favors over for Mirotic, pls.

They traded for Mirotic dude. The FO never didnt want Mirotic's option picked up. It was probably an ownership thing. They probably just told ownership they could easily trade him in the off-season if needed.
