Obama didn't have his teleprompter available, so he had a long pause in his toast. The band thought he was done with his toast so they started to play the anthem.

So the band was stupid and didn't realize a toast ends with people drinking from the glasses they are toasting with, not just pausing for a few seconds? And then there is some rule in england that once the national anthem starts, for whatever reason, no one is allowed to finish a toast while it is playing?
