GAME 1: Little Ricky's journey to the playoffs -- Jazz @ Thunder 4/15/18 4:30 pm MST

Rubio completely sucked today.

When he's bad, he's really bad. There's a reason he's open for 18 shots. Long-term, we really need an upgrade at PG. Can't have a dude who can't shoot a lick, it really hurts.

I'd still like to see him after a summer of development with our staff. Maybe he skips some international ball this summer? Probably not, tho.

Ingles needed to stop complaining to the refs and just play. He was too concerned about the refs and talking trash this game. We need a little more from him to win this series.

I also wish we would have had him run the pick and roll more when PG13 was on him. We did that against Ws with Durant to wear him out. We have to make PG13 work hard on defense. Ingles also needs to run plays more to stay involved.

Exum played solid defense even on Westbrook. He started to take over the game but they just kept hitting threes. He also had some bad turnovers. Although I think he was fouled on 2 of them, but thats how it goes sometimes.
Must frustrating point of the game by far. George on the bench, Exum scoring every time we could’ve cut it to like 3 with the starters coming back but the defense was suddenly absolute **** for that stretch, such an unlucky anomaly.

I think that (and I'd love to be wrong) both Rubio and Ingles' game is better suited for the regular season. You could tell that both of these guys were bothered by the physicality/intensity of the playoffs. This may be an overreaction after one playoff game, but let's face it... Ingles had Redick guarding him last year in the 1st round.

I've pointed this out before, but in 2009-10, the Jazz

1) lost the final game of the regular season to miss out on HCA in the 1st round
2) played Melo's team in Rd 1
3) suffered an injury (Memo) in the first game of that series, which they lost.

They won 4 of the next 5 and won that series pretty convincingly.

That Jazz team was an offensive juggernaut and Deron Williams was playing MVP level basketball.

Deron Williams was never anywhere near an MVP. The 2010 offensive "juggernaut" finished 8th in offensive ranking and 10th in defense. They were 3rd overall in SRS. This year's team finished 16th/2nd/4th in off/def/srs.

It would help if they could create their own shot.

Totally irrelevant. But a quick look at the boxscore, they have Burks 4/4 and Exum 4/6. I think Burks last missed drive they attributed to Exum lol

DM held his own. Not too much more can be said I reckon...

good point ... this time of the season is where the physical superiority rises....
