Game 5: Termination Game -- Jazz @ Thunder 4/25/2018 7:30 pm MST

is there concern that Jazz may have been some what figured out.. I think OKC plays carmelo less then 20 minutes and play grant abrines more and switch everything on pick and roll.. Jazz have to figure this out, as if they win they play rockets, and rockets switch everything all the time.. Our offense looked scary bad with teams switching on all picks, I will be surprised if OKC doesn't do this all game.

Check Dan Clayton's article. The Jazz have ways of dealing with switches. They just stopped executing the system last night. Snyder talked about it.

Donovan will probably need to be play close 40-43 minutes even if we are winning in a blow out fashion.. with OKC switching everything on pick and role, and players can learn to do it seamlessly, the pick and role ball defender gets no real advantage

I read the article I don't buy it.. Houston swept us in all four games by double digit margin employing nothing but this defense... The only think that breaks switching is having awesome ISO players.. we have Donovan and that's it.. You have to know other team will switch so you do a pick and role with the player having the weakest defender.. that should have been Abrines player setting a pick on who ever is guarding Donovan and having Abrines swapping with Donovan.. then having snippers like Rubio, Ingles and Crowder standing on three point line and letting Donovan go one on one.. that is the only way I know to break switches, you get the weakest defender on your best offensive player and then you go ISO.

hope so man.. the good news is if we legitimately figure out how to play against switching defense effectively.. I will feel much much better against Houston.

I'm not talking Houston just yet. There are enough holes in okc's defense that switches can just as often play to our benefit. If we make the right reads. Snyder said we repeatedly failed to do that last night.

was this okc’s first time trying switch defense? I don’t think so. we just missed lots of shots during that time. foul trouble killed us. we will win tomorrow. today will be the longest day of my life till tomorrow

agree making reads are key, but we don't have many players who can take defenders one on one.. especially if defenders are the quality of Paul, Westbrook and Grant with Abrines being the weak link.. We have to try and get Abrines swapped repeatedly on either rubio or Donovan and have them take him one on one, and if they swap Abrines with melo, then we do the same thing with Melo.. Donovan should also be able to take Adams one one one due to speed...

I think its the first time this series they repeatedly went to this strategy as they can't really do it well with Carmelo.. you need young quick legs who communicate better

You all miss what happened last night. I'll clue you in.

Melo the Jazz killer!

I told you he smokes your team. I saw him put up 30 against the Jazz in the blink of an eye. Your team can not compete against Melo. He killed you on January 20th 2016 and he killed you last night.

Melo the Jazz killer!
You have no hope against him.

This is almost correct we lost the game because of Melo... because melo did not play... please tell Billy to play him 48 Minutes on Friday...TIA

The thing Melo did that killed is was got his *** glued to the bench. Damn Melo.

I think last night was an aberration. They had to get some fluke calls from the refs to hand our bigs so many fouls. Then, Russell had the game of his life.

The only thing that worries me:

1. Did we just blow Jae’s one good game? If so, who’s gonna step up? It’s too bad we couldnt have closed them out and moved on after the night Jae gave us.

2. Did OKC finally discover that Melo is our best player? If they give him limited minutes I’m worried that our best option to attack might’ve been taken away. Can we run the same stuff against their bench? After all, I got used to matador defense and ball stopping 28 percent shooting.

It wasn't even nightmare, it was just like a hazy confusion.

Wow, this is really weird. The same exact thing happened to me. I wasn't even that upset when it happened since nothing surprises me in sports anymore and I instantly looked at the positive that could come from it. I think part of my subconscious must have been deeply disturbed by it though.
