What's new

Donovan Mitchell's Players Tribune

Well RFA's rarely ever switch teams, so it's safe to mention Dante. Favors is a weird situation so I can see why he wouldnt want to hype him up for next year if he doesnt know if he will be on the team.
It’s very much like Donovan to not make a statement that would paint Favors into a corner regarding his free agency decision. Based on other statements he’s made, I’m sure Donovan would prefer to have Favors back again as part of the “something special” that is being built in Salt Lake.

I just want the team to keep looking for guys who have the same “championships are the goal” mentality that Gobert and Mitchell have. The more guys like that, the better.

This has me so excited. A man with his fire, personality and work ethic and he is here this summer, his first, with the coaches and training staff.

MVP next season?
If he can make the jump to 25ppg next season that would be pretty big, but honestly I expect more from him. He has raised my expectations of what is possible, but for him only. I don't expect these big jumps from others. Am I wrong to think if all goes right he could be at 27ppg next year?

Wow.
This KID is unbelievably great!

This is what I imagine it was like to be with Henry V at Agincort, or Alexander in Asia Minor facing over whelming odds and still coming out victorious because you have a true leader. DM will make as much of an impact off the court as he does on the court. I'm convinced Exum will develop into something truly special, if he stays. Mostly because I believe being around Donovan Mitchell will inspire, motivate, and push him in all the right ways. The worst career move he could make is to chase money, or PT, or a starting spot elsewhere. Stick with DM and follow him to the promised land. Same goes for Favs.

We are so lucky he is our leader. It's a great time to be a Jazz fan!

It's going to be really hard to wait until next season. It can't get here quick enough.

That's what stood out to you?

Hmm. "What we have here is a failure to communicate"

Really meant nothing by it. Autocorrect put it in. I must have meant to emphasize it in the past. Anyway, I was just too lazy/not inclined to go back and fix it.

He didnt mention Royce either, who is his best friend on the team and a guy he is with constantly, so I wouldnt read too much into it.

Another difference between DM and Hayward... Gordon mentioning Evans and not mentioning the better and current players was annoying.

DM always brought up Royce in after game interviews and they are definitely in love. Another difference is that Royce is freaking good and Evans was fun but not good.

I sure hope Donovan also executes all the prisoners after we crush the Celtics in the finals next year.

Never felt this way about a player. Donovan is almost too good to be true. So lucky to have him. And. If he believes in Dante, i will too.
He also brought up Favs, Ingles, Crowder, and others in post game interviews. Donovan is legit. Prime example was his NBATV interview after the Jazz won game 2 in OKC. He was asked about something different and went straight to "Derrick Favors played his *** off tonight"........right after he had just closed out the 4th quarter. Donovans a great basketball player, he's also a genuinely great person.
