We needed a knock down shooter asap...

and we got him. Allen is a 38% 3 point shooter and 83% at the free throw. We needed someone that could step in and contribute right away and we got him. You can't say "BUT WHAT ABOUT HUERTERWRERE AND DONTE DIVNAODIAVNASIDV!!!!!" Well, they were gone so shut up. The Jazz staff have obviously been watching his game for quite some time and didn't just pick someone just to piss people off.

Allen will be great. Calm down

I don’t have a strong opinion on Allen, I just wish we found a way to take another opportunity to find someone with a skill set that’s a desperate need for us at this time (Spellman or KBD), which I think will be hard to find in FA.

If Rubio gets hurt we now have depth with Grayson Allen. If we had him on the team during this year's playoffs, the Jazz probably would have handled the loss of Rubio better and we would have won one more game against the Rockets with Allen on the team.

Not only is he a knockdown shooter but he's also extremely athletic. He's going to compete and play as hard or harder than anyone on the floor. I know a lot of fans are disappointed right now, but I really believe he will win them over with his play.

He definetely could be a good shooter for us. He has good looking form, and will get good looks in our offense.

You are right Heurter was gone. I'm behind Allen now, and giving him a chance. I just needed to bitch a little.

For me I look at this FOs record in drafting and this coaching staffs record in development and I’m very hopefull.

Hayward, O’Neale, Gobert, Lyles, Hood, Mitchell, Exum, Rubio, Hill, Crowder, Ingles, Burke...

Few weak spots but on the whole, some damn good selections and a good record of development and putting your guys in the right situations for them to succeed.

Shooting is a decent need for any team. Burks is gone after this season, Exum and Neto situations are up in the air.

This is all my opinion but I think Burke was the only weak acquisition.

Players who buy into what the jazz are selling excel...the ones who think they've made it struggle (Lyles, Burke). Allen has the attitude and work ethic, he wants to be the best and he wants to win, he's perfect for the Jazz. Just not a lot of minutes available for him to play this seaon, unless Exum doesn't return or there are injuries.

this could be the x-factor.

can allen buy in? I think so. He looks like a work horse. Lyles and Burke weren't jazz DNA, they are **** shows.

Crazy thing is, I think Hood was 100% a jazz man, but DL eventually saw he wasn't mentally tough. He made the move and now he looks like a genius.

Along with the physical tools, I'm guessing his bbiq had a role in picking him. It will be interesting to see how quick he picks up the system and how well he plays in it. There are a lot of gifted athletes who struggle with the cerebral aspects of their respective sports.

38% from college 3 is actually not that impressive... He's streaky at best. Shooting 41% overall this year, and 39% last year. Definitely a long way from being a reliable shooter at the next level. Kid's got some serious work ahead

To split hairs:

Dennis Lindsey has made two good selections in the draft in his 5 or 6 drafts. Four if you count Neto and Hood.

Volume of good selections is not something he's accomplished. The 2nd round has been garbage and you can find players there.

His overall FG% isnsuspect but I’m not worried about threes when you correct for volume. He’s a very high volume three point shooter.

Draymond Green!

I count Neto and Hood. The jury is out on Bradley and Exum got majority derailed by injuries. Burke (KOC involvement) and Lyles are really the only bad draft picks imo.

Yup. Solid shooter? Yes. Knock down? Nope. Therer were 40%+ guys available, but Allen is awesome at 3 on 3, has amazing handpads and isx great shooting against a chair, so here we are.

But i'm giving him a chance. Just tempering expectations.
