Team ONE LOVE:

PG - Jason Kidd / Tim Hardaway
SG - James Harden / DeMar DeRozan
SF - Peja Stojakovic / Glenn Robinson
PF - Chris Webber / LaMarcus Aldridge
C - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar / Karl-Anthony Towns

Siro's Case:

n/a

ONE LOVE's Case:

Offensive Philosophy

This team will play inside out basketball lead by the wizardry of Jason Kidd running the offense (16.9 ppg, 10.8 assists). Kidd will be passing to elite scorers in Kareem, Webber and also Harden. Harden will also handle the ball will look to score and pass (29.1 ppg, 11.2 assists).

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA's All Time Leading scorer (34 ppg, 16.6 reb) and Chris Webber (27.1, 11.1reb) will feature prominently in the paint. Kareem with the skyhook can score from anywhere and at anytime. Webber can step out and shoot the jumpshot, but he is also a very good passer and will likely give Kareem, Stojakovic, Harden and Kidd easy looks as well.

On the wing, James Harden will provide primary outside scoring and will kick out a tonne of passes to Stojakovic (24.2 ppg, 43% from 3's) as well as inlet passes to Kareem and Webber.

Defensive Philosophy

Defense starts at the PG position with Jason Kidd one of the best defensive point guard that's ever played the game. He is a 4-Time NBA All Defensive First Team. Kidd averaged 2 or more steals in 12 seasons as a player.

In the middle, we have Kareem who is the achor and is a 5-Time NBA Al Defensive First Team. He averaged 4 blocks in 2 seasons and averaged more than 3 blocks for a further 5 seasons.

Bench

Scorers galore in the bench with ALL PLAYERS averaging more than 20 points per game (i.e., everyone knows how to score once given the ball. Tim Hardaway will make sure the ball find whoever is open to score. Tim Hardaway (23.4 ppg, 10 assists), DeMar DeRozan (27.3 ppg), Glenn Robinson (23.4 ppg), LaMarcus Aldridge (23.4 ppg), Karl-Anthony Towns (25.1 ppg).

Match-up with Siro

Post: Kareem/Webber >> Duncan/Kawhi

Wing: Harden/Stojakovic > Carter/George

PG: Kidd >> DWill

Bench: Hardaway/DeRozen/Robinson/Aldridge/KAT >> Parker/Barry/Johnson/Horry/Reed

Siro has put together a solid team. But in the post, Kareem & Webber are going to be too much for the Duncan/Kawhi front court offensively. Kawhi has never had to play or defend the 4 for an extended period of time and will really struggle against the physicality of Chris Webber. Duncan is solid but Kareem one of the best low post scorer in the game will be able to score over him with the skyhooks.

Jason Kidd, one of the most physical point guard will be more than a match for DWill defensively. He will stick to DWill like glue and will make it really hard for him to get the offense going.

Siro's team will really struggle scoring inside with Kareem matching up against Duncan and Kawhi not known for inside scoring. Siro's lack of bench scoring will also be an issue.

In summary, the dominant post play and overall balanced scoring + better chemistry should translate to a 4-3 series win.

Harden, Peja, and Webber are all bad at defense.

OL has a good team, but Siro’s is better, and OL’s dishonest takes in his writeup annoy me.

I vote Siro.

“Duncan is solid.”

I can’t take anybody who says that seriously. That’s just blatant dishonesty, or stupidity.

I should win for never subjecting anyone to a cheesy write up. I didn't even submit my team to WC. He decided on his own that I'm playing PG at the 3 and Kawhi at 4. That's the kind of passion we should all stand behind.

LMAO

I thought it was a beautiful idea and not sure any other way you could set your lineup.

Both teams are pretty good. I do think Kareem is the best player on the court and is better than Duncan. I prefer Kid over Dwill to lead my team. Ill take the HOF player. Harden is elite at scoring but I really like Carter and he plays some defense. Thats a wash for me. I think Leonard is slightly better than Webber but I dont like Leonard at PF. I would call the SF spot a wash as well.

So overall I think OLs team is slight better.

This might get me to change my mind. I do hate OL write ups. I actually skipped reading this one because of how cheesy they are. The stupid statements that he bolds as well are so silly. I would play PG at the PF spot but I think they are both much better SFs than PFs.

NM, I cant change my vote.

But it looks like Siro will win this one so far. At least until OL logs in with his alt army. But maybe the last time was too embarrassing to do it again.

Also I love that this is the first round matchup. It was not a coincidence.

Great post. I voted for your team because I really like the two-way potential of a VC, PG, Kawhi and Duncan lineup. I give One Love the advantage in the frontcourt, but I think he’d have a hard time matching up with your wings.

I dont really like how either team is constructed tbh. Kawhi at the 4? Really dont like the Webber/Kareem combo. OL has the best player on the court but I dont think itll be enough.

Siro.

I really hope I win this matchup. I thoroughly enjoyed eliminating OL last year. It's a special thing. Like Clutchfans quotes after a Rockets loss.
You must be talking about the current players draft, cause I had that pleasure in the all time draft last year--and did so in spectacular fashion if I do say so myself.

OL has the better team. Strong role players around all-world scoring and one of the best rim-protectors of all-time Better bench.
