It's probably a camp invite or 2-way type of deal... This was somewhat expected... unless it's the full-time contract. We'll see when more information comes I guess.

So maybe eventually Kidd will be a 2-way guy and Niang on the real roster?
Last year they brought O'Neale out of nowhere for the full contract, so it wouldn't be completely shocking if they gave Kidd the full contract too.

I really liked Kidd from what I saw. I'd take him over Niang all day every day

That was after training camp and pre-season. Kidd looks like a good shooter, probably a better shooter than Crowder, and he has good size for a wing. He's an adequate athlete for the league.

That's not true. He signed full contract with 1 of the years fully guaranteed after summer league. The contract was signed on July 19th, 2017:

I remembered it because I was shocked at the time that we gave him the fully guaranteed year. It shows that the Jazz are not hesitant to put up money when they believe in a player. If Kidd's contract is fully guaranteed I would expect him to make the team, like Royce did.

Just a quick glance at his stats it looks like he has been able to hit the 3 throughout his college career and his 3 years in europe. Hope things work out for him.

I'm good with it either way. I would prefer Niang get the full time deal, but Stanton doesn't suck either if such is the case.

I would be shocked if Kidd got a full deal over Niang, I’m guessing it’s a two way deal, Niang has paid his dues, I highly doubt Kidd goes directly from wherever he’s been to the jazz roster over Niang

His ability to hit 3's off the dribble is impressive. He could be deadly from long range in a Jazz offense that can generate open looks for him.

Or he can just be one of those guys in their mid 20's playing over his head in the SL because he's going against guys 4 or 5 years younger than him with a lot less experience.

I guess we'll know soon enough.

I think Royce was 24 or 25 when he got his deal. I'm guessing 2-way deal personally, but it's not unheard of for the club if that's the case.

Like this move. I didn’t know anything about Kidd when I went to the Atlanta game in SLC so I was surprised when he “popped out”. In that game it was clear he is an NBA level athlete. I have been focused on him since then and I Have been impressed with his shot and motor. I expect he plays more than Georges (you can’t have too many wings in today’s NBA).

no doubt in my mind it’s a 2 way deal. He’s completely unproven other then the fact that the jazz liked what they saw in SL. it’s not like there are any mins available for him in the rotation. The logical step is to put him on the GLeague team for an extended look.

Royce O'Neale way way more unproven. Both were important role players for Eurocup teams(Kidd's team won the championship this year)

Royce had a bad SL for a different team and the Jazz still gave him a guaranteed contract.

Because it fully makes sense to assume a guy making European money will take a huge pay cut to sign a two way deal...
