Donovan wins ESPY

I expect DL to have a trade prepared in a couple of days.

This would be funnier actually if Mitchell were comparable to DeMar's situation, but they are different ages, have different contracts, and will probably have different track records. Donovan hasn't really collapsed in the playoffs thus far, to my knowledge.

Yeah....maybe I’ve overstated it, but many of you act like it’s nothing when you’d be on other players *** for not doing it. I’ve just never seen a player forget to thank their teammates and current coaches in a moment like that. Sorry it was noticed, Donovan is superior to any sort of questioning. We all noticed, I’m just willing to have the unpopular opinion and say it.
He's open for questioning. What's the question?

Wow, oneye must be on his period or something. Who the actual hell cares if he didn't thank the Jazz in his speech? Here's a spoiler alert, he probably would have won the award in Denver too.

Off my period, and realize all the feelings I hurt-edited

I don't read into Donovan's lack of Jazz recognition as an issue. I truly think it was an oversight. You can see how Donovan carries himself that he understands sports politics and always tries to say the right thing.

I do think there is a good chance he leaves the Jazz when the opportunity arises, but he'll be here for a few years, and if the team can get to elite status the likelihood of him leaving largely diminishes. I don't think that reflects on DM negatively at all. It is just the current M.O. of players in the league.

That's probably an indicator that you suck *** at dressing yourself.
IDK, maybe. Donovan wears some really lame suits IMO.

Rudy's are colorful, but they usually fit right and seem to have more thought put into them. They usually seem a bit classic, but with a colorful flair.

Donovan seems like he just throws some random stuff together.

Listening to the speech again, it was really framed from the opening sentence about how he got to the draft, his doubt about not being good enough. And then he thanked the people who got him there and told kids to believe in themselves. Theres no disrespect in not mentioning post draft success with the Jazz.

Exactly, he was talking about what it took to even get to the NBA. I don't see what the fuss is about.

By the way here's the speech since I don't think it's been posted in this thread.

I certainly hope you are wrong. We are dedicating his first 3 years to continuity and keeping his favorite teammates around. Phase 2 will be when we push like hell to add a big name Donovan approves of in 2020 (maybe 2019, but I just don't buy us being players next summer).

Hopefully, he will be signing the longest max deal possible when the opportunity arises. But we need to start winning more 2nd round games at the very least.

I hope I am wrong too, but it seems to be a systematic issue in the NBA. Not a lot of loyalty anymore and more and more entitlement. I like DM, but in the current climate of jumping ship, it wouldn't surprise me if he goes that route.

I saw a stat yesterday that from the 2009 draft first and second round, Steph Curry is the only guy still on the team that drafted him. I think Rudy will stick around. I have my doubts on Donovan as well, and not because of this let me clarify. And that’s the thing, to truly build a team to win a championship especially in one that’s not the few glamour markets you need time. It’s why it took Karl and John so long to finally get to the finals. Players now jump ship when things get tough to better situations, it unfortunate for fans and franchises. There are very few select players that will stick it out, although there are still a few.

Worst case we have 6 more years with him. So no reason at all to worry. The landscape of the NBA will be vastly different in 6 years.

May I have his number since you seem to know him so well?

If Gordon Hayward had won an award yesterday and said I’d like to thank my elementary school, Brownsburg Highschool, Butler, and the Celtics for all my success, you all would take issue with it and don’t say you wouldn’t.

So, he either intentionally left them and the coaching staff out because he doesn't truly care about them or is upset with them or doesn't appreciate them or is planning on leaving... and then took to twitter to put something in there to cover his bases...

Or he just got a touch frazzled and neglected to mention them.

Which one of these is more reasonable and in line with other evidence we have from DM? You can prepare for a speech, but in the moment things can go sideways... the start was clunky (for DM).

Unless he goes full Kawhi (you never go full Kawhi).
